New here just got a 2000 ls with 246k miles,
Got the car running but not street worthy had to tow it to my shop been sitting for about a week and i finally got a chance to get the parts to get it running again, it needed a replacement a/c compressor and a new belt the bearing on the clutch of the compressor had enough sending little ball bearing all over the place.
so i removed the old compressor, installed the used one i got in the car added about 3 onz of pag36 in the thing and installed the new belt,
I took the car for a spin right after letting it idle for around 10 minutes, i saw some oil drips on the floor after it sat there, i also noticed the upper ball joint on the driver front tire had major play in it, also picked up a used one that is in bad shape but has no play in it I'm gonna price a new one but will likely install that used one for safety, also picked up 2 used front window regulators.
The main purchase of the day was a used 3.9l motor out of the 02 ls being used for parts the car had an oil sticker on the window that said 137k the car was in really good shape but wrecked
the reason i bought the motor is because when the compressor failed the belt snapped causing all the accessories the water pump and all the pulleys to stop spinning which probably overheated the motor, i saw a little bit of condensation on the oil cap but the oil looks clean maybe the last owner changed it cuz it had water in it
after inspecting my 2000 under the lift i saw no signs of rust, saw no obvious signs of wrecks, did notice the shocks are shot as well
the car runs a lil rough and i can hear a chain making noise, the noise is not loud but i can hear it, i can also sense misfires as i drove it home,
the trans doesn't seem to shift right when u gass it but the motor is running poorly, under light pedal the trans shifts fine. trans seems to have been rebuilt as the torque converter was painted blue.
i tried scanning the car for codes after driving it a lil hard to try and get misfire codes w no result
will see in the morning on my way to the shop
