So us LS owners should start to fear the new GMC denali...385 Horses, 415 ft Torque...oh and not to mention...0-60 in 6.1 seconds and quarter mile of 14.95...That's enought to make me steer clear of the Denalis for now. The new Escalade is supposed to be even faster...man I would hate to be smoked by a huge monster out on the highway. One more SUV...That SRT-8 Grand Cherokee, it's pushing 5 seconds on 0-60 time, please do not race one of these, or you will be put to shame. Damn, I wish I still had my Lexus LS400 (and of course I'd still have my Lincoln) it was so much faster than my LS, gotta love my car though. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

So we are clear, this was directing towards the 2002 and older LS's. The 2003 Ls owners might have a tight race (with DENALI of course) if you are stock. But still, that is too much power for an SUV.

Thats not all, you gotta watch for the new V8 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300's their putting out 340HP And the SRT8's have 425, and they really dont weight much more than my daughters 95 Mark VIII LSC and it only puts out 290HP.

That's okay, I'll just turn on my cooled, memory seat and get comfty at 24+ mpg on the highway while those SUVs speed away from me. :)

As for the Chargers and 300, I watched an all day matchup between a 300 Hemi and a Cadillac CTS on March 4th at our dragstrip. I was pretty even. The cars were a very close match, only the drivers made the difference. They swapped wins all day during the Test & Tune opening of the track. Check the pics out here:

We had 6 Marauders show up, one being equipped with a Vortech Supercharger. He ran a 13.106 I think.

We met later at a local Drive in that has been in business since 1959 for "Cruise Night". The first Saturday of each month, local hotrodders meet at Ray's Drive In to show off their rides. Pretty interesting day we had. Lots of fun!

don't worry, we will pass them when they have to pull over and fill up the tank. ;)

since I have a LS I wont be racing. I have a luxary car not a race car

Nobody cares. At least nobody over 25. :D

whats the point of street racing anyway?

Take it to the track!

Well I'm assuming racing on the street is more fun than the track, since you get like a "rush" or whatnot... although it's risky in the sense that you might get stopped, or get into an accident.

Just throwing it out there...I was quite suprised myself. Not like I am racing it or anything. I figured some of you guys would be suprised also, apparently not.

they may be fast but let's see how they handle in the twisty's and then say the LS has no chance.....;)

I second the above. Put any of those in the twistys and there done. As fas as the 300 goes I have no idea why any one would want a wannabe bently. It is like driving a kia with LS name badges It is just not the same

I don't think any of the forementioned vehicles will keep up with any Lincoln LS on a windy back road at 55 -60 MPH ! I enjoy my new toy. There are faster cars, and slower ones too,and there's more expensive ones not to mention cheaper ones.I fell in love when the LS came out in 2000 and wanted one badly, but my income/credit situation wasn't what it is now,so I had to wait a while.I bought mine because it fits like a glove-sort of speak, not to mention the handling, performance, and styling.I also like the fact that you won't lose this car in a parking lot because they aren't all over the place like some vehicles that are on the market.Somebody I work with was drooling all over a fairly new Subaru Impreza WRX STI that came in the shop for a shopping cart dent repair. He was pulling my chain saying "oh this car will smoke your LS and he went on and on.I don't care if it can break the sound barrier,it's still a Subaru and Lincoln's trunk lining material is nicer than the carpets in those things. My point is we should just enjoy our cars and the hell with other's performance figures and such. take care guys-Jim...................

Yeah, when I first got my LS, a few of the guys I work with and myself went out to lunch. Of course they all wanted to go in my "new" ride. We all piled in and while it was tighter than the Vic, it was still roomy enough for a short trip to a local food joint. It was a warm day and I reached down and turned on the cooled seat on the passenger side. Everyone thought that was the coolest thing they had ever seen. Now mind you, I am 53 and the oldest of my passengers was 26. As I started telling them about the rain sensing wipers, auto lamps, butt coolers/warmers, etc. the guy in the passenger seat started looking around the dash. I asked him what he was looking for and he said "The BJ button". I started laughing and said I was still looking for it. One of the guys in the back said, "hell with this ride, you can pickup a girl that will give you one". I had to laugh. Even my wife thought it was funny. :)

My thoughts on the 300C's are that they are the ghetto persons version of a luxury car. Too much of a "yo, yo, yo dawg" attitude portrayed by most of their owners from what I seen. Definately not refined IMO.

Hehehe. I like having 500 horsepower in my SUV. It makes things interesting because people don't expect it. :D

Dodge always seem to miss the mark with their cars. A four door Charger, hmm. A hot rod station wagon, WTF. As for the hot rod SUVs, well its kinda wierd, but the car companies are sure taking advantage, can't say I want one. Its hard not to be a little disappointed when some of this crap can chump you off a light. I still look better.

This HP war has gotten out of hand.....hell a Civic Si will smoke an early Mark without breathing hard and the new Volvo wagons are ridiculous....my neighbor has one that neatly outpaces his Cobra in every measured category INCLUDING slalom.....

I gave up on the stoplight to stoplight races when I had a WS6 Trans-Am a couple of cars back. It was simply ridiculous fast. Beyond a certain point street performance goes over the "fun" line and becomes another form of macho showing off not worthy of attention.... bling has its place, and that place is MTV. Fun to look at but who needs it - enough is always superior to too much of anything.

Man...what an awesome attitude. I'll be willing to bet he's over 25, and a fellow Floridian. Atleast i now know i'm not the only one who thinks that way and also had a fast car and understands things a little better (owned a T/A). Just the title of this post is annoying to me. Just goes to show that alot of idiots have "racing" on their mind waaaay too much. But speaking of fast SUVs, anyone remember the GMC Typhoon ?? That was back before SUVs where even cool.

Man I love those Fire Bird WS6's. Those look so sweet. I'm sure it was hella fast, sometimes I even think the LS is fast (for the kind of car it is). And yes, I agree with someone above the Dodge sucks at putting out new cars. The only car I'd be interested in is the Challenger, if it looks the same as the concept. Yes the four door charger was gay, the Magnum is so ugly, the 300 is a ghetto Bentley, and as the rumor goes, they are making a 300 wagon. That'll be interesting won't it? "Yo it's ya fitty cent hea, in meh new 300 wagon, gots it befo it went on sale foo!" ---That's what he said when he got his 300C, if anyone was watching MTV Cribs.

Jeff,I remember seeing that a while back and I got a kick out of it! The center console's cupholder is not big enough to hold a 40 ounce of malt liquor or a bottle of corvorsier, but it'll hold his "pimp juice" LOL!! The 300 is the chrysler cordoba of today, just like it was a poor man's Caddy/Lincoln of the
'70's /early '80's.I don't know how old you are,but I remember back in the day when I was little those things were everywhere! They even had commercials for it featuring the old guy from Fantasy Island boasting about the cordoba's "rich corinthian leather";doesn't look too rich to me.what a joke-just like all of the rest of chrysler's ill fated attempts at making luxury cars, past and present.

Just my 2 cents...

I personally think Ford should take the Crown Vic/Maruader frame and make a Hot Rod Retro vehicle. Maruader drivetrain in a wagon or a Ranchero to compete with that garbage. Better yet have the SC4.6 as a option.

Ford needs a new Crown Vic, bad!! I wish it wasn't so...round. Like a blob, the Marauder however looks very nice!! If Ford could just give their cars some power, I wouldn't mind having one.
