New Member/1998 Signature Lincoln Town Car

Hi Everybody!

I'm new to LVC. I have found allot of very good information at LVC and finally decided to register. I own a 1998 Signature Lincoln Town Car, that I love. Lately, I'm having problems with rain getting inside the rear right passenger side. We've had allot of rain lately, and I found at least 2 inches inside on the right rear side. Yep, the windows were raised and the rubber seals don't appear to be the problem. Any ideas or suggestions on what the problem might be, would be greatly appreciated.

Do the dollar bill test.


Take a dollar bill, and shut it btween the door and the weather stripping. You have to do this all the way around the piremeter of the seal. You should have a slight drag on the bill as thogh the rubber is grabbing it. If not, it is too loose, and will allow water through.

Regarding the rain inside the Lincoln, I later learned that the drain plug was clogged. I still can't figure that one out. My carpet had a mildewy smell, but I took it to a place that was able to take care of that. It has been years ago and its still dry. I would love to own a newer Lincoln, but there is nothing mechanically or physically wrong this one.
