I've got a question regarding the OEM tire on my 2003 LS. They are the Continental 225/55 R16's . They have been replaced once already at 20k miles. The car has 24K on it now and am having the same problem.
wondering if anyone else has had problems with these tires.

:W to the LvC. Although I do not have a LS, I am sure someone will chime in sooner or later. But, that does sound to me to be too much replacing. :Beer

well as you can see the little emoticon or whatever the hell you call it didn't work, it was supposed to say "Welcome"

1st :W

2nd what problem are the tires having ??? Weird tire wear ? bouncing ? Pulling to the left or right?

my first thought would be to get a wheel alignment.

I'm having tire cupping on my oem tires (continental) around 20,000 miles. continental says its mechanical and Lincoln Dealer says its the tires. I'm contacting Lincoln Customer Service to complain. Shouldn't have to replace tires at 20,000 miles, but makes so much noise I can't stand it.

:W to :V If your hearing a humming, that sounds like you have truck tires. Then for sure you need alignment. 4 wheel alignment. I went through this before. Normally it's the rear tires that start to cup. FWD vehicles are notorius for doing this. You can also have your tires re-trued which will get rid of the hum after alignment. But you will be taking some more life off the tires by doing this.

Which tires are cupping? Front or rear? Also, how often were the tires rotated? Typically every 5,000 miles is suffice for rotation. So, you should have rotated them at least 4 times since you've had the car. Also, cupping is from an alignment problem such as too much camber and toe. The best thing to do is try to get Lincoln to spring for new tires and make sure it gets aligned. If it isn't aligned properly after the new tires are put on you'll have the same problem.

If you can't get Lincoln to spring for new tires and you have to pay for them I'd stay away from Continental's. Go with a Michelin. IIRC, Lincoln puts Michelin's on all new LS's.

Greetings and welcme to LvC. If you get the chance stop in here and join the SE Chapter. http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/announcement.php?f=96

Things are just starting to pick up for the SE Chapter and would like to have you join our post and chats.

A few of us are going to meet at the Mustangs and Mustangs event you can read more about this event here http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=6171

I work in Sarasota on 41 and BV of the Arts. I am down there at least twice a week and the rest of the time I work from home. I have a lot of hwy time and recent went through a similar problem with my tires. I had t get an alignment and replaced the two rear tires. Considering how most Florida Hwys and roads are you might be faced with the same propects.

Work the dealer over for tires first then decide after that. If I can be of any assistance just let me know.

The noise started after the dealer rotated the tires from rear to the front at 15,000. so i quess its the rear tires cupped. 15,000 was the first rotation.

Thanks for your input

Yup, Michelin Pilot MXM4's are the bomb...don't ever buy those conti's again. Continental...Great car...bad tire.

The Dealer just installed new Michelin's on my LS today at no charge, I think I would buy another lincoln after this.

sorry, what's cupping?
after I got my eibach springs on, my tires were screeching whenever I cornered and felt very unstable.
immediately knew that it wasnt aligned correctly.
took it to les schwab where it was aligned before and turnes out computer malfunctioned and code fo LS was switched to lexus' code.
so after 10 minutes, it was back to normal.

oh, welcome to LVC. we are all LS junkies.
Must have my fix... before day starts...
at least I cant overdose...
