Hello all I have a 2002 Lincoln LS V6 sport model that I have owned from new and am now at 75k hitting the first real maintenance cycle on it. Replaced 1 alternator, clockspring assy, and this weekend the DCCV valve and at the same time did the swaybar bushings and swaybar end links. Seemed like a good time to do the bushings with the DCCV out of the way.
Love driving the car but I have worked on many vehicles in my day and I can say changing that DCCV valve was a major pain. The location is just terrible access wise!
I also have the dreaded PCV valve/melted pipe issue going on that I will be going after this week...not looking forward to that. A plastic pipe used to suck hot gas vapors out of an engine, (yeah like that won't be a issue right!) mounted under a manifold where you have to dig for three hours to get at to fix....genius!!
Seems the major issues with these cars is everywhere they used plastic, window regulators, PCV piping, coolant system, valve covers. Awful high dollar car to be built so cheaply in critical areas.
It was a whole lot easier working on my Town Car and it needed a lot less of it.
Seems there are some very knowledgable and helpful folks on this site so that really makes doing these repairs a lot easier.
