I've just joined today, and wanted to introduce myself.

I've been a Cadillac owner for the last 9 years, but have recently switched over to the Lincoln Mark VIII. The reason for the change was that I was looking for a used luxury car in the right price range that I could do most of the repairs on myself. The Mark seemed to be a perfect fit, given the amount of information on the markviii.org site that I started out on.

I own a 97 black LSC, and I just aquired a 98 red base for the cost of towing it out of NJ to my house. The 98 is getting a complete suspension and brake rebuild (coil over conversion, new UCA's, rebuilt LCA's, new brake lines, everything is getting painted) and will replace my son's 2002 Mustang in the family fleet of vehicles.

I've been scanning the posts here, and it seems this board is more active then the other with the same amount of useful information.

I'm looking forward to sharing my ownership experiences with all of you. :)

:W :V And you can find just as much here as there, and the guys are nicer and more down to earth here, well most of us.

I won't bad mouth either site because I've learned a ton of useful information over there.

This site just seems to have a lot more traffic on it, which comes in handy when you need to find information right away.

Even if that information is 'use the search function'. ;)

welcome to the dark side.

I wish I could say I thought your spring conversion was a good idea, but I cant.
But welcome aboard regardless

can we call you "Springy" for short?

That is a great plan..and offsets the "spring" penalty!

The mark 8 is an excellent upgrade from a stang

every car I owned prior to the mark 8 WAS a mustang

bought my first mustang in 82 {it was a 4 year old 78)
bought my first mark 8 in 99

I drove alot of different stangs between 82 and 99

the mark 8 is a much more comfortable, safer enjoyable car to drive.

not to mention the factory installed "Stealth Generator"
(not available on red models)

Springs works. :)

I hear you on the air ride, but this car will be the boys and I would like it to be as trouble free as possible. He's as mechanically inclined as my desk at work, so the less he has to worry about the better.

I was originally going to use the 98 as a straight parts car, but the engine fired right up with a good battery, and aside from the brakes and air ride you would never guess it had as many miles on it as the clock shows (interior is dirty, but not decrepit).

It has the Traction control, air bags and ABS that the Mustang lacks, it's heavier and drives a whole lot nicer. So it will be a nice step up for him. Plus, I get to do all the work on this car (meaning if anything goes seriously wrong it becomes a parts car after all ;) ) which means when I start working on my 97 I'll know what I'm doing. :)
