Hello everyone! I purchased a 2003 Ls Sport recently. I know these cars aren't really out there anymore which leads me to making an account here. My only question right now is how long are the stock mufflers? I am trying to cut them and get straight pipes and custom tips.

What's there now? Why not measure it? I'd guess you could look up the actual Motorcraft muffler on a parts supplier website and start tracking it down from there but again, why not throw a tape measure on it? That's what a shop will do.

I just bought an 03 also. Kinda nervous bout all the issues I'm reading about. Hope you have good luck with yours.

Could get you a measurement in the morning if you like.

Thank you i will do it in the morning. I have to change my fog lights anyway. The second gens I heard are better than the first ones. Little more power and they dont have the overheating issues that most 1st gens have, from my research.

I’m not sure where you received the information that 2nd Gen doesn’t experience overheating issues as much as the 1st Gen but unfortunately there isn’t any truth to that..the cooling system parts in both 1st and 2nd Gens have cooling part components that break down over time and both will more than likely require maintenance every 12-15 years if not sooner ...the 2nd Generation does however have an improved timing chain design and also several other features that are an upgrade like the DCCV valve in a better location and better design but as for as the overheating it’s like flipping a coin, turning a card, or rolling the dice when the plastic will start to fail
