Hi gents hey just a quick question and a little info to share. I have a 94 "Mark Hate" That I just replaced the head gaskets on with the engine in the car. 200k on this car and no lip in the cylinders! Amazing! I bought this off the original owner he ran Mobil 1st from his first oil change. So a couple things I learned alone the way. One is that Vrcm are still available 86 bucks with your old unit They are not called VCRM by the parts houses but rather relay control modules.
Also overheating problems can be tricky but in my case the car had a thermostat that was only opening a short distance I found this out by dropping the old and new thermostat in boiling water (easy test).
The car over heated while being driven by a friend this cause the head gasket to go away. If you remove your serpentine belt and crank or start the car for a minute and you have pressure in you coolant tank then you have cylinder pressure in your coolant. Easy test. My was bulbing as I cranked the car lucky it was head gaskets and not a cracked head or cylinder.
EGR tube can be really hard to find.
Knock sensors are easy to break. I broke both of mine. OOPS!
Spark plug wires can be a bastard to get out of the valve covers
Forums are your friend.
The question I have is will the knock sensor being disconnected make your idle not happen I have to hold it at about 1200 Rpm to keep it running.
I suspect it sill still idle with bad knock sensors and that my real Problem is the spark plug wires as they were a real pita to remove. Any Knock sensor input would be great thanks. Well I hope this info help someone because I've gotten a lot of help from the forums Thanks

Welcome to the forum, and the Joy of Mark VIII ownership. You will find that most of the parts are not available by ford anymore. What you're going to have to do is hit up junk yards for your spare parts, as they are filled with Marks. Everyone here is helpful, but......you will get more help if you help yourself first. :) Use the Search feature before you post any question. I guarantee that any question you have will have already been asked and answered. Let's see some pics of your Mark!

Welcome... Gman is completely right look around and use the search feature. Im not new but have not been on here that long compared to everyone else and still forget about it and catch a load of chit when I post about something thats been covered. And after time you will have a Mark Hate... At least a love hate relationship with yours if a lot of problems come up. hahaha Well post some pics and welcome to the forum!

Welcome and yes, please listen to GMAN about the search. I'm not even allowed to ask a question without getting beat up on. :D When someone new comes along, we do like to see pics of their car, even if it's just one but 3 to 5 is better. Inside and out.

Welcome,

All the above it 100% true and just good forum etiquette anyway.
I had my AC quit yesterday, did a few easy peasy searches and as quick as crap through goose I had my answer.
In my case, blown VCRM fuse.

My mark

Man my Mark is beat up if I took a picture the flash might make the rest of the paint fall off.

welcome aboard.....did your car idle funny before the new head gasket or did the problem arise after?

LSC8 after ...... the head gasket are nice but I did find a big vac leak

How dare you do head gaskets and not hve pics for us to look at...shame

welcome to LVC...home of the "you did WHAT!"

Knock sensors can only pull or add 6* of timing and thats not quite enough to stall it plus they (I think) dont have controll below 1500 RPM.
Your issue is a vac leak.

good to know about the knocks the problem was indeed a vac leak the egr valve gasket. Appears one bolt didn't make it through the hole in the gasket so one side fell. So it now has the new knocks and egr gasket. I do have a slight tick on # 5 up top hoping that cleans up with the new oil.

A tick on 5 is unusual. Its normally 7 and 8 that would develop a tick. Might be secondary slapping a little, it happens. Also be aware that our injectors are quite noisy. I was surprised how much quieter my new 42lb injectors are compared to the stocker 24's.

Well good work finding the leak. Hope the progress continues to be positive! :)
