My 02 LSv8 has been in the shop since monday with the dreaded "fuel data computer error' and was diagnosed as a bad PCM. Got the new pcm and now they can't program it because I only have 1 valet key and 2 is required so I've been informed. Now they have to get 2 chipped keys to program the new pcm! Is this true!? Everything has been checked...fuel pump sending unit...blah blah...Then I found another LvsC owner had the same problem and found out that he only had a bad pcm relay switch....Now....since they do have the proper scan tool from Ford, that would show up as a code on the scan tool right? HELP!!!! I'm sinking fast and I'm payin out the ass for a rental car also!!!

Thanks for any type of input!

Andy

doubtful a relay would show up as a specific fault. Check it yourself before you go ahead and throw money into useless things. Not too sure about the keys though. I know 2 keys are needed to make more keys and maybe it applies to marrying the cluster pcm and PATS modules.

Yes, absolutely two keys are required to marry the PCM to the cluster to the keys. This is enforced by the PCM.

It figures...just friggen figures....Thanks for the conformation...My mechanics are SAE certified Ford and Lincoln techs, so my question is why the hell would it take so long! UGH

Day 7 update....My mechanic located a chipped key to a 2000 LS and borrowed it from the junkyard and was able to use it to get the pcm working. Two other things went wrong....FORD LOST the 2 new chipped keys that they shipped to my mechanic...they were located today and will be there tomorrow...secondly...now that the pcm is up and working and the car starts....the wipers aren't working!!! dammit this car is driving me nuts but they said that they "should" be finished with it tomorrow! I hope so!
