I have a 2004 LS V8 with 117k Miles. I have owned the car 1 and 1/2 years (since 95k Miles). Really love this car!

I just had the oil pan replaced (previous owner scraped it good at drain plug, so i was addressing that) and I am experiencing a problem I had not had before.

Under hard acceleration, about 5K rpm I get an unusual rattle- sounds like something is vibrating at a resonance under the hood. Doesn't sound like a knock, more of a roar that resonates - at first I though the airbox was running open (it wasn't).

Oil (pressure light) doesn't come on, and I seem to have no problem (or noise) at 4K or less.

At idle I notice that I can hear a very soft ticking on all valves, and though i didn't notice it before, I think that this is the same. I also listened to the 97 Jag XK8 I have at idle, (also based on the same engine platform - albeit different valves, and it actually sounded a little louder.

Could be just coincidental with pan replacement and oil change, as I let my wife drive it the past two weeks (and she never notices any noises etc.) But since it was the most recent repair, I need to start there.

Before I messed with it more I am going back to the shop to ask a few questions. (i.e. confirm the correct oil was used, that there were no problems with the install, i.e. bending the pickup tube. etc.) just to make sure i don't have some kind of oil restriction problem.

Are there any other things regarding their work I should ask about?

P.S. I have a good relationship with this shop, they have done a very nice job on numerous repairs on this car, and I have been pleased so I expect a frank discussion between me and them. I am not saying they screwed up I just am trying to figure out what is going on.
