well.. i pulled my spark plugs because the engine light came on -- 304 and 307 codes.. the plugs were in bad condition.. probably original with 91k miles on the car. i tested the coils with a multimeter.. all pretty much came back with 5.77 to 5.88 nothing higher and nothing lower.. the GAP sizes on the plugs were anywhere from .054 to .062.. with 4 and 7 being .062 so i bought autolight platinum plugs from advanced auto.. they looked up the plugs on the computer and said they were supposed to be .044!! so i was like well... so i replaced them with the .044 plugs..runs better .. but still kinda misfires???

are those the correct GAPs on teh plugs?

should I take it in under the warrenty for the valve cover gasket? and is there a way to see if the gasket has been replaced under the TSB?

thanks, matt

This should be a FAQ somewhere. This isn't even an RTFM question: the spark plug gap is printed on the EPA label in the engine compartment of every new car sold in the US in the last, oh, 30 years or so. Very convenient, eh? :) It's normally white with black printing, about 2" x 4", with a diagram showing the belt routing, IIRC. There will be a statement about engine timing (non-adjustable on the LS), and there will be a measurement for spark plug gap.

thanks - ill take a look tommorow..

thing is.. the thing misfires really bad.. and the engine light came back on..lol ill take it up to advanced auto tomm and have them pull the codes.. thing didnt even last 24 hours/100 miles and its back on.. i can almost bet the valve cover gasket is leaking oil to the plugs.. because the plugs that were in there were extremely dirty.

thanks.

they were dirty on top or the firing ends?
