Hello everyone,

Im new to the forum, but have been searching and viewing for quite some time now. You guys offer some great insight and knowledge into these cars and I'd be happy to learn some of that!

I recently (finally) found the LS I've been wanting forever, a 2003 V8 Sport in Redfire Metallic. This was owned by an older gentleman who purchased it brand new and drove it only 61,000 miles in over 10 years.

Anyway, I'm very excited to be part of the forum here and I hope to get, as well as give, some help. My goal is to get this LS as close to perfect as I possibly can, meaning I'd like it to be as close to how it was when it was on the showroom floor as it can.

Thanks everyone
-Dan

Welcome. Make sure you search the forum before asking questions, or you will be attacked mercilessly. Even so, this is an excellent forum on the LS and you'll get top notch information. JoeGR is probably the most knowledgeable person here on the LS, both 1st and 2nd gen. You just need a thick skin. ;) Now it IS OK to attack ME, because I am not a fan of the car and am looking forward to selling mine. Nevertheless, just because it's not the car for me doesn't mean it's not the car for you. I bear no ill will against the fans of the car just because it's not for me.

Major problem areas with the car are, COP and plug replacement is Step 1 of any repair including changing a flat tire or paint needs a wax job, cooling system replacement every 100K miles, and a transmission that doesn't shift right is more likely a PCM damaged by the COPs than anything else.

Want to have some real fun? Mention how 18 wheelers suck. Now THAT'S entertainment!

attack? I think its more like aggressively recommend...

THAT'S IT !!!! ... I'm coming to your house and I'm putting that cap back on the glue myself, for you. (taking down all the tinfoil also)

$10,000 you said ?

@ACDiecast, welcome to LVC, never mind some people around here, specially those that hate their LS and can't sell it.

You'll fit right in ;)

welcome, there is plenty of experience here on this site to keep your car running well. use the search function, many common problems are well discussed and repaired. sweet ride you got there! enjoy many good years of driving, i've been driving mine for 14 years.

and word to the wise, when you search, dont bother trying to use this sites built in search feature, just use google and add "site:lincolnvscadillac.com" so that it will limit the results to this site.

well of course any questions that are asked should at least not be answered by RTFM...

unless of course somebody needs help reading, then of course we can assist with that.

Hey, I like this, this is how all new members should be greeted, with the correct procedure to search.

Hahaha, thanks for all the advice guys. That's a good tip for searching, I didn't know how to specify the website on a regular google search.

As for the car...maintenance and upkeep is on the way! Going to order a set of 8 MOTORCRAFT coils this week, no cheapie junk ones for me.

This reminds me, do I need a DG-515 or DG-529 coil? They seem to be interchangeable part #'s but I don't want to take a chance.
