Glad to be here with all you car enthusiasts! Looks like an interesting and helpful site. I've owned Cadillacs (DeVilles) for many years, but for "gut wrenching" performance I also always owned a performance car along with it in order to satisfy the yearnings of my youth (the latest being a '99 Trans-Am.)
When I saw the CTS-V I realized that I could have both performance and room, all the bells and whistles I could play with, and at the same time rid myself of the "boy toy" images of Camaros and Trans-Ams. I got rid of the Trans-Am with much trepidation, as I truly loved the car and, at 65, I felt it was just time to move on. I thought I was really going to miss the TA, but after just 5 minutes in the "V" the Trans-Am became a distant memory. The "V" is just as fast (maybe faster), handles and stops much better, and is a real attention getter. All in all, a very special car.
To cut to the chase, I currently own a '99 DeVille which my wife drives and which I drive in snow, etc., and a 2005 CTS-V which takes me back 20-25 years. I am semi-retired, so I expect to spend a lot of time enjoying this car (just put on a Corsa cat-back exhaust.) When do you get too old for this type of nonsense? You'll have to ask someone much older than me!!
