Well I just bought a 2001 LS and it was a experience in what not to do when buying a car. I answered an add on CL and visited the car ( looks OK). Made an offer , offer accepted ( I don't know if it's a good or bad deal yet). Original owner sold the car for ? to ? they could not get it to pass emissions in AZ. Could not title, owner 2 sold the car to my seller who could not get it to pass emissions after spending 500 or more. He could not title the car, Seller 2 sells the car to me with a skipped title 6 months in the making. I buy the car take it to my man we spent this A.M. working on it. We had a running rich code. So here we are now it left the shop no codes this afternoon but developed a check engine light after 60 miles.
Today we checked the fuel pressure, switched the coils to check, smoked the vacuum lines, trying to eliminate a #2 and # 5 miss fire . You can feel it. We cleaned the Map , cleaned the intake manifold, it has a new egr valve. When we removed the large vacuum line from near the MAP it cleared the code. But now some code is back will have to wait till A.M . to determine which one. Also noticed that it now starts hard more cranking before ignition. I thought maybe a valve or ring issue it has 183,000 on 2 and 5.
I am a newbie , I will go through the forums to see if there is a answer in the mean time. I would appreciate any help or advice anyone has. Thanks bobbeck

Hey boys is there any help out there. Car is showing a lean code we have done everything as described in the previous post. Plus we have played with the air mixture by blocking part of the small hose ( 1") that enters the air intake plastic as it runs over the radiator. Works for awhile stops the code but it comes back after 20 miles or so HELP HELP HELP
