Good Evening!!!
I just bought my LS on friday and im looking at (a) getting acclomated to the car, and (b) starting off at low to mid-price performance mods for my V8 01. I was curious about what everyone's first step was, as far as their first choices in the tuning/exterior/AV path.
ALSO, i was on ebay and i saw "performance chips" for like $7...whats the deak with those, anyone have feedback?

Thanks Guys

Happy Holidays:)

Welcome...Dont buy a $7 tuning chip from ebay. It is just a resistor that tricks the car into overfueling. Will not do anything beneficial trust me. As far as performance goes--many threads on this. Search will get you good results. I recommend STRONGLY recommend that you get a custom computer tune from Torrie or another competent tuner. I am sure someone will chime in with Torrie's email. Air intake and exhaust are about on these cars (performance HP wise) unless you have lots of cash.

What is this computer tune by Torrie you speak of?

You have the run of the mill tuners for most cars (superchips, jet, etc.). For the LS you need to get a tuner like Torrie to build a custom tune for you. It is like getting a superchips on steroids because you work with a 'tuner' to make you a custom tune to your specifications. My tune got me a much needed transmission logic upgrade, more power, and yeah better fuel economy to boot. Best $400ish I ever spent on a performance upgrade for any car I have ever owned.

racing stripes.. and a HUGE spoiler. I think there is somewhere around here with "special spoilers" :D

just kidding, enjoy the new car, post some pics, and welcome to the community.

My tuning experience has been with Torrie@fastpartsnetwork.com and highly recommend him; this form has another contributor that does SCT Xcal tuning also, ILLS, you might PM him also.

The custom tuning has been well worth the money.

Skip the eBay $7 chip, it will guaranty you get a CEL. Horse power doesn’t come cheap.
