Hey everybody, I can't decide. I have a 1995 Mark VIII that was well serviced and I am the 3rd owner. It has around 128,000 miles on it and has its eyes on my moth eaten wallet.

1. An oil leak that makes me think I should claim rights and install an oil well
thingie.
2. The air suspension likes to surprise me as to what end or side will be up or
down at any given moment.
3. There is a sound reminiscent of Godzilla under the hood.
4. The air control goes out occasionally as in no lights.
5. It says check charging system occasionally along with oil, gas and
suspension of which I can grasp the gas and oil check message.
6. Did I mention an oil leak that you can actually see it pour out when you
start it up?
I love the car but the question I have (ignoring my wife and mechanic) is when do I give up?

1. Leave keys in car hoping someone steals it?
2. Put on a crash suit and helmet and park on the freeway?
3. Sell it and try not to laugh when asked questions and prepare to not
sleep?
4. Give up and buy another one I can pour money into?
5. Pour money into this one?

Any thoughts are kindly accepted. I just can't decide.

1,3,and 6 could be the oil filter housing gasket. Although depend on what the noise sounds like it could be the alt making noise or motor is starving for oil. If its the alt making noise that could be why you are getting the charging light and it may be time to replace the big 3.
Sounds like a portion of your air ride has reached the end of its life, could just be leaky bags. For piece of mind you could swap to springs.
Fix the oil leak first!
None of this are end of the world problems unless your oil leak has already damaged the motor, all of these things together will put a dent in your wallet.

Check the Oil Pressure sending Unit.. its the little thing on the adapter, directly under the oil filter (that's probably where your bubblin crude is coming from)

Alt bearings have probably failed and that's your noise/check charging light.
I have 3 spares, can sell ya one cheap, pm me if need

I guess youd give up on fixing it when the cars mechanic bill surpasses its value, but on some of these cars that can be accomplished with a tank of gas

I have a set of lowered springs for a Thunder bird, I believe they are a 2" drop. They are a Tokico shock and Tokico Spring setup. I have 2 perches for the rear springs, these perches are the plate style ( a piece of plate steel, bent to hold the springs with a stud placed in the center) not the fancy puck style that fits inside the spring.

The sound could also be a tensioner pulley which is a very easy fix.

If the air ride problems are beyond your scope as a do-it-yourselfer you could always convert it to springs. You could probably do that yourself.

You have to find the source of the oil leak which is most easily found on a hoist. You could probably have a shop look over everything under the car fairly cheap. They could point out problem areas besides just the oil leak.

Godzilla

Air ride problem and Godzilla moaning. Sounds like compressor. Might need valve cover gaskets and what everyone else said. I was eating up alternators on my 95 until I removed the engine cover. Keep it fix it and enjoy it.

It is. Fronts are Suncoast's about 4 years old. Rears, not sure of age. Compressor is one I picked up off Ebay (original and questionable condition), and I only top off air once a month. I leave the compressor shut off. My drive to work is silly with the auto drop. Drive 60 for 3-4 miles, hit light. Rinse, repeat for 20 miles at highway speed.
