I guess they are gonna do away with the pontiac line of cars. This is really upsetting to me as I have been a fan of a lot of pontiacs over the years. The 68-69 GTO being my dream car. I never owned anything but a pontiac other than my truck until I got my mark. I am guessing if it happens then the price of the old GTO's and Trans Ams will sky rocket.

This isn't new news, they've been planning this for awhile now.
They've been talking about it as a possibility for some time; there was also a plan to turn Pontiac into a niche brand with the Solstice, G8, and/or G6. The news is that they're apparently going to make it official that they've taken Pontiac out behind the barn and put a bullet in its brain.

My first vechicle was a 1990 Pontiac Transport SE with over 250K on the engine.

Shame - one of the few GM brands I really liked. Wish they'd killed Buick instead. (in the USA - not China, as they are big there, for some bizarre reason)

Dunno? Never seen many Saab's in the USA - still pretty common in Europe though. I might get one as my next hire car! (one of their turbo diesels)

dont know why gm is cutting the only brand that seems like its selling. pontiac is the only subsidiary that in my opinion that doesnt produce a boring looking product. sad to see it go. i dont think gm is gonna be around much longer though if they keep going the way they have been. overpriced and under quality.

This way posted on another forum I visit. It's really sad. Pontiac has the best performance cars GM makes IMO. Someone on the other forum mentioned turning Pontiac into a performance group like M Class or AMG. I think that would be their best best. I would much rather see Buick and Saab go. The local Saab and Buick dealers around here don't move anything. They have a hard time keeping cars on the lot tho. Oh well I'm just a normal person with no say.

I don't really care for any GM products... it is sad to see it go though....

+ 1 and out of them all Pontiac's are flat out hideous but the effect its going to take on the workers just sucks!

That really sucks. That's my 2nd favorite auto company. Ford being first.
My first car was a 77 Grand Prix LJ 400 4V. Have had '72 G/P, '76 G/P, 70 Catalina and a 70 Bonneville convertible.

Don't be surprised to see Mercury go soon too...
Until Ford can consolidate more dealerships, the stand-alone Lincoln-Mercury dealerships will need the volume of Mercury sales to stay in business. As more LM dealerships are consolidated into Ford dealerships, it is certainly a possibility, but not any time soon.
