There will be no Nativity Scene in Washington this year! The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in the United States Capital this Christmas season. This isn't for any religious reason. They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in the Nation's Capitol. A search for a Virgin continues. There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

Did you know that the Senate Chaplain in 1800 was a right wing nut job who wrote letters warning that President Elect Thomas Jefferson was going to abolish religion and institute a reign of terror when he took office?

In 1800 there was arguably no such thing as a conservative movement in this country.

Did you know that during the early years of the Republic, the Capitol Building and White House were used to promote Atheism and Socialism.

Did you know that during the earlier years of the Republic, Karl Marx, the father of socialism hadn't even been born yet?

Karl Marx was born on May 5, 1818 and died on March 14, 1883. The Communist Manifesto came out in 1848, Capital volume 1 was published in 1867, Volumes 2 and 3 were published posthumously (by his partner Engels) in 1885 and 1894, receptively.

For reference, the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776.

Socialism didn't really reach any significant popularity until the 20th century.

So, how could the Capital Building and the White House be used to promote a philosophy that didn't even exist in the time frame you are talking about?

Learn about Robert Owen, dude. He gave lectures in the Capitol Building and set up exhibits in the White House.

You mean this guy?
Owen's philosophy was based on three intellectual pillars:
  • First, no one was responsible for his will and his own actions, because his whole character is formed independently of himself; people are products of their environment, hence his support for education and labour reform, rendering him a pioneer in human capital investment.
  • Second, all religions are based on the same absurd imagination, that make man a weak, imbecile animal; a furious bigot and fanatic; or a miserable hypocrite; (in dotage, he embraced Spiritualism).
  • Third, support for the putting-out system instead of the factory system
...His first departure in socialism took place in 1817, and was embodied in a report communicated to the committee of the House of Commons on the Poor Law...

A few points...
  • At best, what Roberts advocated could only be considered an early, "proto"-socialism, or "pre"-socialism...
  • It is also clear that you were attempting to mislead with your original claim that, "during the early years of the Republic, the Capitol Building and White House were used to promote Atheism and Socialism".

Your claim can, at best, be considered a overly simplified half truth which, combined with your other statements seemed meant to suggest that the Capital Building and the While House were used, by the government and/or the Framers in some fashion, to promote Atheism and Socialism. The truth was that one nut gave a few speeches in those areas advocating spiritualism (at the expense of religion) and some random collection of ideas that would eventually be rolled into orthodox Marxism. This was also during a time frame in which it is arguable weather or not it could be considered the "early days" of the Republic (Owen wasn't even in America it seems until around 1825).

So, once again, you are attempting to mislead and bait...
