I have 2001 LS v8, and have noticed fuel injectors getting loud, almost diesel sound like. Noise is irritating especially at low speeds, not as noticeable at highway speeds. I assume the noise is the injectors, since that seems to be where noise comes from with hood open while at idle. Talked to service tech and said noise was normal on LS. Any feedback on help would be greatly appreciated

Yes - the LS uses an 'advanced' injector design. about half way down the injector is a mechanical air-valve that mixes air pressure with the fuel creating better atomization of the fuel mixture.

The injectors actual sit in an 'air rail' (part of the intake manifold if you look) and is pressurized by a line coming off the intake.

I've never seen it before....

Similar Rattle

This sounds much like what I have going on. Have taken it to several shops and can't get it diagnosed. The LS rattles at low speeds, louder when accelerating from a complete stop. Anyone have a fix for this? Its very irritating and quite embarassing as well. Also, I have a cylinder 1 misfire that keeps popping up. I have replaced the coil twice as suggested. Why do I keep getting the same misfire and what can I do?

Are you sure you're not detonating?? I have NEVER heard injectors on any car be loud enough to embarrass you. They should "click"...and that's about it. I have yet to hear an LS have that kind of noise you are describing. Of course, noise is subjective too.....

Noise!

I have no idea what it can be nor the mechanics that have checked it out. Whats odd is I kep fixing the misfire but keep it keeps reccuring.
