I have notice whenever I put metal outside to throw away, it is gone within an hour of putting it in front of my house. The last thing I put outside were aluminum air ducts that were recently replaced by flex ducts. Now where do people sell this metal? I know there might me many places but which usually pay the most.

Metal Recycling Centers. Where I am at the only place is called Morris Tick. Copper is worth bucks, but they will take anything. I recently took a dishwasher, microwave, hot water tank, furnace, condenser and about 70lbs of clean copper. I walked away with a nice chunk of change.

I have noticed the same thing here in SW Florida, but in the news, it has gotten so bad with unemployment rates at 13%, that scrappers are thieving from homes, like a/c units, and car parts that now when ever you scrap, you have to show your drivers license and give a telephone and address before they will take it off your hands.

Chit the place I go. I have an account and when the loot gets up there I have them cut me a check. I go there a lot however. I do tons of side jobs and when I take break I walk around and pick up the copper everyone leaves behind on the sites.

Thats stupid I would take the condenser and the water lines first and If I had time the wiring. You have to take in "clean" copper to get the most coin. I sweat the fittings off and cut apart coils in the condesners. You got to separate the metals or they hose you.

People always think I'm crazy for picking up aluminum cans I find on the ground. I can't say for sure how much I get for the aluminum by itself because I always take in a bunch of other scrap metal as well but a buddy of mine took in 8 garbage bags of cans and walked out with $140.

Wow that is crazy. The reason I was asking was because I am now replacing my single pane aluminum windows with argon filled ones. I wanted to see if it was worth selling them on craigslist (don't know who would want less efficient windows) or go to these metal places. I guess I will see whats around here on yellow pages.
