today i was driving home on I 264 doing about 70mph. all of a sudden i lost power steering, then batt light came on and temp shot all the way to hot!! I pulled over to investigate and my serpentine belt looked like confetti at a wedding! 2 mins later coolant was all over the highway. 3 hours later the tow truck showed up. dose any one know what would cause this? or is it just a bad belt?

would seem that without the belt, the water pump was not doing anything, which made your engine really really hot!

Check all the pulleys and belt driven accessories, but usually a bad belt will self destruct quickly once it starts to go, especially with the heat we've been having lately.
