Besides still having heater/defost problems in this weather, yesterday while driving in the snow on highway went to use c/control and could not get it to go , then just started to press off or other buttons it would go on and increase speed , buttons all backwards and only way to shut it off was to hit brake.......I've been also having problems for awhile with the audio controls on the s/wheel but could live with it, but not so much with speed control. how do I know it won't kick on by itself and not be able to shut down.
Anyone else with this problem......is it easy to take apart/clean/repair/replace etc. maybe have to move to the MKZ

Sounds like the clockspring is shot... many threads on this - does your airbag blink when you first start the car too?

Replaced mine a while back and all steering wheel buttons act as they should.

Oh and the hitting the brakes will still shut the cruise off if the buttons on the steering wheel aren't working....

Clockspring for the cruz control's; fix for the audio controls is not quite as exact, could either be fixed with the clockspring or by installing a new head unit.

where could we get a clock spring? how much do they cost? where are they located? best place to buy one?

I have this problem too... how do I go about replacing the clock spring? My airbag light blinks when I turn the car on as well.

look on advertisements on the right of the thread. his name is maxx.

The clock spring needs replacing. Its not really all that hard to do either.
You just need some hand tools and a puller.
takes about an hour to do.

I've done about three of them so I could help you out.
pm if you want to meet up to do it.

any lil step by step/ DIY how to's? pics? instructions? ... i dunno where a clock spring is or what it even looks like. i get in and turn the car on and drive.
