My overdrive button has slowly been dieing, working less and less often, but yesterday was the last straw. No more furious button pressing anymore, because nothing will make the overdrive turn off. If anyone knows of a solution to the overdrive button problem I'm having, by all means let me know the solution... I just HATE when the Mark isn't perfect.

Maybe I was too detailed. My overdrive button doesn't work, anyone know of any possible problems or quick fixes? Thanx.

remove shifter handle(small staple looking thing in front), remove center console. Inspect OD wire(probably worn through--very common).

solder wire back together, re-route wire into new(and better) position, and re-install console and shifter.

if it isnt a broken wire, then it is the button. Purchase used shifter with working button on ebay.

DONE.

What color is your interior? I have the one out of my 94, but it's dark blue. You could salvage the button and wire out of it if needed.

I have a 94 Mark VIII, Dark Portofino Blue exterior with Portofino Blue interior (dark blue), so if that shifter is in good shape, along with the plastic plate that says what gear your in, I'd be interested in buying those from you.

BTW, I've always wanted a manual tranny on my Mark, and I've always admired the switch you did on you're car. Maybe in the future I'll be talking to you some more for tips!

Thanx!

I'd be more than happy to help you out with the swap. As far as the shifter goes, the shifter is completely intact. Yours for 30 bucks. I'd even be willing to meet you somewhere to save on shipping. You don't live that far from me.
