Dr Donald Berwick, Yet Another Obama Socialist
http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2010/05/dr-donald-berwick-yet-another-obama.html

In April President Barack Obama nominated Dr. Donald Berwick to be Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Department of Health and Human Services . Dr. Berwick currently serves as President and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, and is a professor at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health.

“Dr. Berwick has dedicated his career to improving outcomes for patients and providing better care at lower cost,” President Obama said. “That’s one of the core missions facing our next CMS Administrator, and I’m confident that Don will be an outstanding leader for the agency and the millions of Americans it serves.”

Berwick is also a partisan of state run health care, an advocate of government re-distribution of wealth and an ardent socialist, unless he was lying through his teeth when this clip was filmed.

Obama recess appoints Don Berwick who favors rationing care

With Congress officially on recess, President Obama will on Wednesday use his ability to make recess appointments to name one of his more controversial nominees: Donald Berwick, nominee to be Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Some notable quotes from this guy:

“The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open.”
“Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must-must-redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate.”
“NHS is not just a national treasure; it is a global treasure.”

Death Panels, anyone?

It seems Dr. Berwick supports the idea of rationing healthcare. And he is being appointed to head the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Can you say "Death Panel"?

Actually he doesn't support Death Panels because he didn't actually use the words 'Death Panels.' So you can't prove your statement and I demand you retract it.

Way to exaggerate there. Glad to know that you think of me constantly.

Now how bout you give context for those quotes.

I mean, I think the guy is an idiot too, but still, you know very well context is everything, and I only like hating people for real reasons. Unfortunately I lack your advanced christian education, so I have a hard time with irrational hatred of people just because they are a little different.

How about you watch the youtube videos before you knee-jerk react. I'm not going to do your homework for you - if you don't like my context, prove me wrong.

I did watch the youtube videos, and I have no desire to go running about fixing your statements or adding the additional information you choose to ignore. If you can only come by your beliefs by skewing context, then why do you believe those things in the first place. If I had to work so hard to justify my beliefs that I took it to the point of clouding reality and ignoring everything else around me, I would quit believing anything.

How about you think before you constantly state people are making a knee-jerk reaction every time they question something dumb you say. I wasn't asking for context for my sake, I was asking for context to point out the fact that you were missing something VERY important from your statement. Of course, as usual, you are only interested in fighting with straw-men instead of confronting issues and making intelligent decisions.

So, you can't prove me wrong.

Got it.

Can't prove what I said was dumb, either.

Anything else?

I don't have to prove you wrong (though I can, just not right now since I am heading out the door in a couple minutes), why don't you try proving yourself right instead? Instead of proving you dumb, you could make an attempt to prove yourself intelligent. Negative-proof fallacy much?

Find, you certainly post a lot, but contribute nothing.
What was your point in this thread?
Are you actually making a point that specifically challenges an opinion expressed or presented before you, or are you just trying to present yourself as thoughtful and intelligent?

Are you saying that everyone is drawing the wrong conclusions? That the man isn't embracing socialist ideology, that he doesn't support socialized medicine, and government rationing?

Are you even going to argue that it's appropriate for Obama to make him a recess appointment?

Seriously, what is your point?

Contribute nothing? Sorry I don't have hate blogs and other propaganda that I feel like posting.

My point was that even though the guy is a douchebag, one should hate him for the right reasons, instead of misrepresenting him to hate him for other reasons

I was attacking the Death Panel comment, and to be fair, Foss did kinda invite me in.

HE certainly is supporting many socialized policies..... Government rationing.... that is a weak allegation at best.

Are you even going to argue that it's appropriate for Obama to make him a recess appointment?

Jury is still out on that one. I don't like the guy, but I am still considering it myself.

Seriously, what is your point?

That snap judgments and misrepresentation to demonize people is silly, same point I make in many threads like this. If you are gonna hate someone, hate them for the right reasons.

I believe you.
In order for you to even post something like that, it would require you to read.

My point was that even though the guy is a douchebag, one should hate him for the right reasons, instead of misrepresenting him to hate him for other reasons
Why is he a douche-bag?
And what was misrepresented?

HE certainly is supporting many socialized policies..... Government rationing.... that is a weak allegation at best.
So you're saying he doesn't support rationing.

What do you need a "jury" for? (I know you mean that figuratively.)
Do you think it's appropriate for Obama to make a recess appointment like this. Why do you think he did it?

I'll tell you.

TO AVOID DEBATE.
To avoid the political consequence of having the socialized Obamacare program back to the forefront where a nominee like this would expose the problems and failures of the system.

Obama has a majority in the Senate.
The Republicans had not tied this guy up in committee.

To reference another thread, this would be another example of Obama RULING, not governing.

That snap judgments and misrepresentation to demonize people is silly, same point I make in many threads like this. If you are gonna hate someone, hate them for the right reasons.
Why are you misrepresenting any of this as "snap judgments."
Just because you have may not have a deep understanding, background, or ability to contextualize what is going on, others here don't necessarily share your level of naivety or lack of awareness. So you're not seeing "snap judgements." You are generally seeing observations and conclussion based on an extended period of deliberation and examination of current and historic events.

And it isn't necessary or productive to have you attempt to reprimand other people from your exhaulted position of general ignorance. You're just nay saying, the point I keep making by posting the classic Monty Python sketch.

If you don't know something, ask.
If you have an opinion, state it, support it, and we'll honestly bounce it around. The whole point of a forum like this is to both communicate and share information and to challenge our conclusions.

It only works when the discussion is done in good faith and honestly, with an emphasis on understanding.

It's amusing to see your reaction to a taste of your own medicine. You certainly can dish it out, but you can't take it.
