My 96 Mark VIII has thrown a fault code P1537 intake manifold runner controll.
I have tried the sea foam treatment to try to free up the manifold runners but no luck. Any suggestions as to where to look next?

P1537 dictates 1 or both IRMC's stuck open. Each irmc is operated by a vacuum actuator on the back of the intake manifold. If you look towards the back of the manifold, you will see identical/medium sized chambers on each side next to the valve covers. Beneath those to chambers will be a quadrant which is attached to the butterflies. While at idle or low rpm, the quadrant should be resting up against the stop screw. If you can feel a gap there, the valve is stuck open. You need to manually move the quadrant. There is great spring pressure there, so be carefull. Just an fyi, vacuum keeps the butterflies closed, while spring pressure opens them.

Thanks for the info. As soon as it quits raining I will go take a look. If it or they are stuck open what is my next move? I really don't want to have to tear this thing down.

just a question

did you happen to also get a lean condition on one bank if so check and make sure the diaghrams in the intake runner control valves are good and hold vacume mine failed on passenger side and gave me same code

still have this problem havent located the vac pot on any board yet
had to plug both of them
