Ok so based on excellent posts and info read here primarily, I was able to successfully
do a clockspring replacement and a complete plug and COP switch over the weekend.

Obviously the battery was disconnected for a period of hours. So an ECM/(PCM?) reset.

All the expected issues, but one unexpected.
When I shut car off now, the marker lights stay on until I hit lock on the key fob.
Last night I tested it and 3 hours later still on, so not a delay thing.
I'm referring to the front 4 yellow markers and the rear red running lights.
NOT the headlights.
They work as before.
Holding the key in the door to the lock position does not shut the lights off.

Its an 02 V6 if relevant.

Anybody got a suggestion?

Thanks in advance

Is it really the marker (parking) lights? If so -
Is the light switch in the off or the auto position? If it is, then the problem will be with the headlight switch, the cluster, or the wiring between the two.

This will not be a "PCM reset" issue. The cluster reads inputs from the headlight switch, the hazard switch, and the turn signal switch. Then, it sends commands to the FEM to control the lights at the front of the car, and to the REM to control the lights at the back of the car.

I would suspect that since you changed the clockspring, the problem is likely related to something being messed up with the wiring to the multifunction switch, since it is right there where the clockspring is.

Good point joegr. putting the trim panels back in was somewhat of a task.

As I said, yes it is the "parking lights". And all functions seem to work properly from the headlight switch.
Problem is present regardless of whether in auto position or off position.
Im assuming the lock command from the keyless remote must override everything.

I will pull the trim panels and see what I may have messed up while under there. (like that ever happens lol)

Thanks again.
