Well i collected my total check for the LS today, so it is officially salvage. Gave me $7144. I think thats not bad for a '05 with 185k miles. I do have some extra parts for the LS that i will be posting within next few days. Anyway, replaced with 2009 MKS Ultimate w/ every option available under the sun. Amazing things this car has/does. Took some pics, i guess i'll be moving over to the MKS forum?

Good price with that many miles.

Congratulations on the new car. Good luck with it.

Yea, that's a really good amount you got there.

Congrats on your new ride!

Planning on changing anything on it?

Oh and don't forget to change your sig.

Yeah man, good on you, looks great.
Still has the new car smell I bet ya.

Enjoy !

I like it !

EDIT: Wait ... does this mean the McClaren Grille got damaged in that accident ?

NNOOOOoooooooo, say it aint so !!!!

No where near the performance as the LS even though there is only a difference of like 7hp between the two engines, but no torque steer issues. But the thing drives like buttah which makes you not care about power. And holy cow is it HUGE!!! Interior room is insane. Has the THX system that sounds like you wouldnt believe. Front and rear sensors, radar cruise, adaptive xenon headlamps, rear camera, dual sunroof, keyless entry/push button start, USB port for internal GB storage "Jukebox", Sync system is awesome and the handsfree/bluetooth is awesome to use. Seats are waaaay more comfortable than LS and the cooling function works alot better. Has 29k miles which for a '09 means some old dude probably had a 3yr lease and barely drove it, was titled in West Palm, FL. The peace of mind that i have zero $$$ responsibility until 2015 as far as repairs is so comforting. I love the sparkly black exterior paint and at first didnt think i would like the cashmere interior but its really grown on me. Think once i get it tinted its gonna look fantastic.

Its missing the polished 20" wheels,
but i don't like the 20"s anyway so its ok..
maybe youll get nicer wheels down the road..

nice car.. and heck yes those seats.. they are 100x more comfy then the LS.. i remember when i sat in one at the auto show.. i was like damm i could drive this just for the comfort of the seats.. soo comfy.. congrats..

still looking for those pics. no rush.. but as long as you cut the price down im still your buyer. 100%

eBay is the way to go to get the most for it so he doesn't get ripped off. ;)

did you figure out what i was talking about??.. haha

the grille, maybe you were thinking i was talking about something else, maybe you figured it out right away.. anyway i was going to buy it from him before the wreck, for top dollar.. but its damaged now so he offered a discount..

Oh and forgot one key important factor..... RUNS ON REGULAR GAS!!!!! Driving 500 miles a week thats gonna start to add up in savings real quick.

My phone new phone takes great pics so i'll take some of the mclaren grill. Other than the tabs on back that broke it really isnt that bad. After putting around 130k miles on that grill it could use a repaint which i think would make it look great. I'll work on getting all my excess parts and create a thread listing them soon.

I hope i have first dibs on that grille,... i mean i was going to buy it before the wreck,, it was negotiated and everything

personally, one of the best looking fords released in years. hope you enjoy it.

Nice Linc. Cooler interior in hot weather. Every interior now is some shade of grey or black, all look cheap & real hot in summer! Wife's LS has similiar color interior, never hot.

Good for you. It sounds like you received a fair amount for the LS and got into something really nice. Congrats!

Glad you found something you like. I notice you have the pushbutton ignition, which means you are telling the computer to start the car. Since this means most, if not all, of your controls are now through the computer, consider adding a normally closed relay (remains connected until power is applied to the control points, where it then opens) into the fuel pump power line so that if the car ever goes Toyota on you you'll have the option of positively shutting the engine down. The folks that died when their Toyota went nuts reported that the key wasn't working.

He panicked and didn't know what he was doing.
Pressing the start button for three seconds would have shut it down. He didn't do that.
Moving the transmission level to neutral would have stopped it. He didn't try that.
He probably had time to pull the floor mat back, but didn't try that either. The gas pedal was trapped under the floor mat and held down.

There's no need to add some cutoff switch. Read the owner's manual and understand what your options are. Also, please note that many/most cars now that still have a key switch have everything under computer control any way. Most newer cars, you can turn the key very briefly to start and release it. The computer will keep the starter engaged until the engine starts.

As much as anyone may hate FWD this car is nicer than the LS.

May not handle as well or have as much power but everything else is better. Newer car, fewer miles and less issues cant beat that.

Even if the guy did panic and didn't take all the steps necessary, eventually there's going to be a situation where the computer actually does lock out all driver inputs. I would prefer to have a positive means to cut fuel as an emergency backup. It's just like car insurance, which is a huge waste of money right up to the moment of impact.

+1.

There are several ways that the computer could kill you. Your fix only reduces the number by one.

You may wish to also plumb in some bypass valves on the brake lines in case the ABS computer decides to lock out all of the brakes. If it works in concert with the e-brake module, your emergency brakes could be disabled too.

Of course, the PCM could decide to slam the transmission into reverse while you are doing 80 in the middle of traffic. I'm sure there are other ways too.

There is a lot done in hardware and software to make sure the car won't accelerate unless you want it to. There have been no cases of ETC running away on someone. (There were plenty of cases of mechanical throttles sticking open.) Also, now most cars have brake override. If you floor the gas pedal and then press the brake at the same time, engine power is cut.

Yes, but it fixes the important one. No matter what else the car isn't letting you do, it's not going to speed up or maintain speed if it's not getting fuel. Just because there are a dozen other things that can go wrong is no reason to disregard something that will absolutely cause the car to stop even if it has to coast to a stop. There may have been no previous cases before, but does anyone here really want to be the first one to die when it does happen? And it will happen, eventually.
