Oil Capacity

Ok, it is too cold to repalce te oil myself this time, I called up a local 'quick lube' and asked for a price - if I suppliued my own filter ( I only trust the Motorcraft 820-s). and they quoted for 6 quarts of oil. I am pretty sure I have used 7 in the past, the owner's does show 6. But I am sure my 98 LSC takes 7. Can anyone verify this for me? I am just huffin too many fumes in the garage?:shifty:

Pretty sure it's 6 quarts. I have only changed my oil once, I am relatively new to MarkVIIIs.

I think My 95 was also 6 qts but now I am kinda stumped on the 98. I might as well brave the cold and just do it to see.

My 96 is 6, I change my own almost every time. I can't imagine the 98 being different.

Thats weird mine takes 6, I always go by the dip-stick too, and it says full at six...put 6 in and see where it's at on the dip-stick.

I used to put 6 quarts in my 94, but after 2k miles I would get low oil messages. I put 6.5 quarts in nowadays and the Mark runs like a champ, no lights!

Well Lincoln got back to me asked for my VIN and told me 6.5 to 7 quarts (nice how specific they are). I will change the oil myself and check it.

i had a 95 mark and it took 6qts. on the dot. my 93 takes 6.5

Changed the oil this weekend. Verdict -7 quarts.

Process I followed:

Engine already warm
Drained oil
Changed #$%#$^:q :q #^% filter
Installed new filter - 4oz oil in filter -all I can fit without spillin'
Placed 6 quarts mobile 1 5w30
Checked level - shows low
Placed 1/2 quart - now shows full
Started - check for leaks waited 5-6 minutes to warm up fully.
Checked again - low
Added another 1/2 quart to fill.
Ran around block - checked again - full
Total = 7 quarts. go figure.

Well I've done oil changes on 3 Mark VIII's. 95: 6-6.2 quarts, 96: 6.5 quarts, 98: 6.5-7.0 quarts.
