If you were to change the oil going by just the % the car tells you on the info center at what % would you do it? Just wondering cause mine is like in the 70% range and to be honest I forgot when I changed it last, it was just before december or after I believe lol. I do not come close to going 3000 miles in the time they say its a good time to change so I'm not worried I'm over doing it or anything.

I wrote down the date I changed it last but when I traded it in the paper went w/ it and when I got it back the paper was not there and I know they did not do an oil change since the car was not even cleaned or anything while it stayed at the stealership for a day and a half.

Around 40%, the full 100% is too dangerous. (40% as in showing 40%, or 60% of the lifespan)

I go by the digital meter, but watch out cause it can be reset real easily. When u reach about 10 % or so everytime you turn on the car it will say Change oil soon then when 5% hits it will say Oil Change Required, when that comes up is the week i usually get it done, i have a busy schedule so its hard for me to get it done right away but i never let it go more than a week when the change is reuired. but if you want, change it around 20%, the % goes down as you drive it so it will basically tell u to change it when 3000 miles hits. mine usually tells me when i drive it about every 2000- 2500 im not sure.

There are two factors that are involved with the Message Center calculation of the "change oil" feature. One is mileage and the other is time. You could change your oil today, reset the oil minder, never drive it afterwards and then a few months later the counter be around 50% or less. The LS has an internal clock that it uses along with mileage. Lincoln states you should change your oil every 5,000 miles and other die-hards say every 3,000. It's all preference but keeping it changed on a regular basis is key to engine longevity.

Average miles driven per week is around 288 miles. Yours may vary but if you changed your oil at the beginning of December then you are approaching 3,000 miles on average. Whether you're a 3,000 mile oil changer or 5,000 mile oil changer...be consistent with it.

Yea, I was just wondering what others thought. I'm getting ready to do it again since its been the average time I change. One thing I like about changing this cars oil is how nice it looks when it comes out lol. Only other car that had good looking oil come out of it was my '03 cavalier but I had that done and everything else at the dealer I got it from, was easier on me.
