Finally taking the time to join in. Great information from you guys on Mark viiis. I have appreciated this site and the other one for a long time and have utilized the tech info to help keep my 3 mark 8s on the road. I have a 93, 94 and a 97. All plagued with chronic mark 8 syndrome.
I did pull off the LED trick instead of neon with my 97 and like it pretty good. Even has a blinker with the taillights. Not bad, I can take some pics if anyone is interested.

LEDs replacement / Neon bulb was bad

I'll work on getting a short video of the blinker / taillights at dusk if anyone is interested. Very doable install by most with any mechanical skills. I started with a spare tllght asmbly for exprmenting. Liked it so much, I instlld it. Could easily be done so that LEDs illuminate entire panel w/o the dark areas. Lks better realtime.
