I bought my LSC about a year ago and the Message Center has never worked.

Is there a way to test it before I try to find a replacment?

Thanks Again

I'm looking at the Service Manual. I guess it doesn't light up at all? If not:

With the ignition Off, press and hold Clock button for a few seconds.. if display doesn't light, check fuses #16 and #17..
------
if it DOES light up, remove msg center from dash and check for battery voltage on Pin2 of message center connector with ignition in RUN or ACC.. If you DO see voltage get a new msg center.
If no voltage, service wiring problem on ignition switch and then try again.
-----
If those fuses are OK, remove msg center, check for voltage on pin 9 (LG/P) of the connector and on Pin 2 (LB/PK) with ignition in RUN or ACC.
And check for ground on pin 13. (B/W)
if all that checks out, replace msg center.
If it doesn't check out, the wiring harness has problems.. fix that
----

If this thing's display does light up but has other problems, it has a self-diagnostic capability.. you enter that by pressing Clock and Miles/KM simultaneously.
If you don't get a 00:00 countdown, replace msg center.
If you do, there are several more pages of further diagnostics steps...

Before going through the long and complicated and confusing procedure of chasing down electrical problems, first verify voltage under various conditions with a plug and play voltage tester.

12.0 volts is low.
13.8 volts is normal.
14.2 volts is high.

After you verify this, let us know.
