So, it's been a whole year since I went under knife to get my lapband I won thanks to so many of you all (and many others). Maybe not as drastic as some would like, but I want this to be a lifetime commiment, not a race. Thanks for everyone's support, couldn't have done it without you all. :beer:

I've dropped 110lbs. I feel alot better already. I will continue dropping pounds the healthy and steady way until I lose at least another 150lbs. So, without any filler, the "good" stuff (if my pics can be called such), I want to share a couple pics.

Did you lose weight? You can really see it in your face.... lol. Seriously though, congratulations on you success so far, the change is definitely noticeable. A family friend had the surgery, and never even had the lap band filled, and my friend's mother had it done and just uses it as a crash diet whenever she feels she's gaining her weight back (just gets it refilled). It's good to see that you are pacing your weight loss. Keep it up.
 
Just an example of progress. When I was using this belt this time last year I used the second to last hole, ziptie shows wear I'd need to wear it now.

Congrats dude. You can tell a diff big time. Keep up the good work. Rome was not built in a day.

Keep up the dedication, and discipline, both physically and mentally.
Always understand that there were reasons you were in the condition you were in, and that you have the power to never go there again.

Pretty soon you'll be at a point when you can really go into beast mode and start achieving physical, sweaty, no pain no gain type of goals, and your confidence and pride in yourself will only grow, and deservedly so. Because money earned is better spent than money won.

Keep it up, don't let anything stop you.

Trust me, I haven't lost a pound without work for 9 months. This lapband got me started, but I put too much into it as a crutch instead of a tool. 3 months in I lost 50lbs and hit a wall. I wasn't eating right or active enough yet. I changed that, then my loss continued. I get your viewpoint, and agree. Thanks for the motivation.
 
Congrats Mike! You're doing great, just keep loosing it little by little and before you know it you'll be where you want to be.

I lost 90lbs from 2/11-2/12. I cut down the cals and ate little to no sugar, that seemed to work for me. Just stay focused.
 
Good show Mike! So happy for you. I really need to loose 160 lbs myself. I can sweat my ass off for 10 hours a day at work, eat less then Sapperfire and I just cant seem to loose anything. :(
I need to cut back on the soda and eating out. No time so I always grab "a quick bite" and its usually something bad.
 
Mike, glad to see you coming down in size. I voted for you also, among many others on here and was happy for you that you won. I can see a big difference between the two pics.

The face looks close to the same, except under the chin neck area. I see a loss there and I see a loss in your chest area and a good size loss in the abdomen. Stay away from those walls because sometimes they're too tall to climb but I really do think you're doing a good job, especially for one year. Keep up the good work and keep us updated monthly. Bring this thread up each month and the pounds lost for that month and line those pics up every three months so we can see the beginning to the time you decide to stop.

Just being straight up honest, I would consider you to be what I call "over weight" but in the first pic, you were huge. Keep burning of the pounds. You're doing damn good.
 
I'm still a big guy, and I'm not ashamed of it. I've lost inches all over (except one place). Even my feet fit my shoes more normally. I gave up on myself when I dropped out of school when I was an older teen. This time around it's not going to ever happen again. I appreciate the comments. And thanks again for voting for me. The people who saw that I had value, worth becoming healthy and all, are my accountability when I begin to decieve myself as we all do from time to time.
 
Keep it going Big Mike! I am somewhat the opposite of you and started bodybuilding back in Feb. 2011 I am a skinny guy with a gut trying to get back in shape and build muscle. But no matter what our goals are man, we are all the same to the respect that I believe our success truly starts in our brains. Our brains give us an excuse when we decide to run to the fast food joint when we don't feel like making a meal at home. The temptations are purely psychological and attached to those are emotions that we need to take control of.

Arnold Schwarzeneggar made a speech called the 6 rules to success which I live by:

1. Trust Yourself
2. Break the Rules
3. Don't be afraid to fail
4. Don't listen to the naysayers
5. Work your a$$ off
6. Always give something back


With that said Mike, I give you two thumbs WAY up on your progress so far and I hope you continue to work off the pounds! It's a long journey but if you stick it out, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you take the 6 rules above to heart and make them your own, I can bet great things will happen. It's a new way of life. :)
 
Excellent advice. I'm going to look into developing a set of standards to enact, something to keep up personal accountability. Those principles are worthy candidates in themselves.
 
awesome results, glad you are not doing it too quickly,thats unhealthy, besides,110lbs is a lot!

your car must be "quicker" than it was last year, good healthy performance mod!
 
Congrats! Now you can call Subway and tell them you did it eating Subway subs and maybe make a ton of money! lol

Thanks everyone! I really enjoy the viewpoints that get shared over the internet, where there is so much facilitation to share them. IMHO, as long as one opens thier eyes to views other than thier own, taking the time to consider all perpectives can really increase dedication and motivation.
 
You rockin, Mike! Already look WAY better, no chit bro. I voted for ya and yer makin me happy as a clam that I did. Ya went in this short time from lookin like a really Biiig dude that's almost ready for one of those scooter things to a Big Dude that I wouldn't wanna get pissed off at me. :lol:

Yeah, as much work as I still gotta do, I am already quite a bit healthier. I wasn't at all immobile before, but I know I am young, so it's nothing to be proud of. Never turning back though, that's a closed book.
