I am waiting for all my components to get here.......I have a toggle switch on the way so I can turn the amp on and off manually if need be. Like if grandma is in the car or the 5-0 pull up on me.

I'm kind of at a loss as to where would be the best place for it. I would like it to be easy to reach but kind of out of view and not easily bumped. Just looking for suggestions. I'm including a picture of it so you know what it looks like.....Thanks!

If you have a Gen II, you can mount it where the "Valet" switch was on the Gen I's. I've contemplated using a switch for my subs as well, and if I choose to go that route, then that is where I will be mounting my toggle switch.

Glove box

Below trunk and gas button

Bottom of guage bezel

In the center console

On the side of the seat by seat controls

2000 here....Gen I. Valet switch?

I was thinking about maybe just below the ignition or directly on the other side of the steering wheel in a similar position. But I am worried about hitting it with my knee/leg or something.

I don't want to hide it in the glove box. That's uncomfortable to get to.

After all that maybe just placing it where the heated seat button would be next to the ashtray.

Best place IMO to make it easy to get to and out of sight would be in the seat next to the controls. Anywhere else and it will be visible.

anytime I have to drill a hole somewhere for a switch, I prefer it to be in a panel that can't be seen and is cheap and easy to replace. my location of choice is hidden under the dash (above where your feet would be)

To me it's a waste of money space and time. If your amp don't have a remote gain, pac have a universal gain control.

G-Rell, the black looks good.

So I'm guessing there's another "Gen 1" simplification that doesn't apply to [late?] 02s. I assume this is where the valet switch was supposed to be?

Yep, this is where I'm considering mounting my toggle switch if I go that route.

Might want to rethink that. If you have to use that switch a lot, this is a lot of wear and tear on an irreplaceable part. Would be better to put the switch some place that doesn't require putting wear on a moving part to get at. If you insist on putting it there, consider planning for future problems by being on the lookout for a replacement glove box door/hinge.

They don't make an App for this?

other option is re-wiring a factory switch... ie relay passenger seat heater to work off driver, and use passenger switch to control amp... or something like that

How about wiring it to the useless Phone switch on the steering wheel.

The AMP has REM. As per my OP, I want to be able to turn the AMP on and off at will. :) Not sure how it will be a waste of money, The button cost $0.95 w/ free shipping and no tax. I will already have the radio out to wire up the REM and speaker wires, so no waste of time. Space isn't an issue. But thanks for your $0.02. :)

GENIUS! I would have never thought of this. How did you do the black for your trim? I want to do mine in black also. Is that plastidip?

Being that shiny, I'm going to say paint or vinyl. I've had luck with 400 and 600 grit sandpaper, 2 coats of adhesion promoter, 3 coats of black enamel, 2 coats of clear enamel, all 5-10 minutes apart. I sanded the radio/AC with 220 first to smooth it out. It shows every spec of dust though...

Yep vinyl... mini write up in my thread. all pretty easy, all "wood" pops off for the most part, little more effort for the doors.

I was contemplating having the "wood" trim hydro dipped with a black wood grain. Is they vinyl more durable than the plastidip?

no... not particularly... just difficult to achieve the same level of gloss.

Either would work, just depends on what your going for

I'm simply going for no caca brown wood. LOL. a crappy spray paint job with lots of overspray would be better at this point.

cant go wrong then... you will get better results (application wise) with dip or paint... but better finish (if your wanting gloss) with the wrap... Either is repairable or able to return to factory (minus regular paint)
