I was thinking of removing the Lincoln LS V8 from the trunk. Any thoughts?

I kinda like the cleaner look but I don't want people thinking it's a Honda or some crap like that since it doesn't have the Lincoln on there. I do plan on painting the plate surround black, and my lic plate is "LS8" if that makes a diff.

Why don't you paint them black to match the car. I wanted to do that, but my emblems are on my lights and it wouldn't make much difference. I think it would look awesome on yours. Lexus does it on some of theirs and they look sweet. But it's just my opinion. If it's just a choice between your choices, I would leave them on.

Your not eleminating the lincoln emblem just the LSV8. If people are stupid enough to think its a honda they deserve the smart a$$ response you give them!

I would do the following:

- Leave the Lincoln and LS V8 emblem but paint them either the same color as the car or one shade lighter.
- Purchase the all red tail lights that come on the 04-06 LSE's.
- Paint the rear surround the same color as the car
- Put a red Lincoln emblem on the rear surround

That's what I'd do and I think that would look bad ass!

I'd agree with Ken. Black 'em out and keep 'em. And you might be able to save a dollar on painting by buying an '03 or newer LSE rear surround; I think those are already body-colored.

I didn't think about painting them black. I may do that since I have some black touch up paint sitting here. I'm assuming these are held on by double sided tape so pulling them off and putting them back on would be a pain. I guess I'll just have to be very careful.

After I get the surround painted I want to get some black emblems and paint the Lincoln star red, then eventually paint my calipers red also.

Here's some pics of an 04 LSE with the all red tail lights. You won't be confused for a Honda with these on there.

The emblems are just held on by double sided tape. Very easy to take off if done carefully. Or, you can just but another set and paint them off the car, pull the chrome ones off and stick the newly painted ones on.

Do you think the paint will stick ok or should they be prepped with a fine sand paper or something first?

Hey Ken, If you look really close at the left tail light (driverside), the trunk tail light piece is a little higher than the body tail light piece. Is that normal because it's like that on my driverside light too?

I took those pictures at the dealer and I'm assuming that the trunk was not closed all the way. Also, it could just be the angle the picture was taken. The fitment of the trunk should align better than that.

Paint will stick to it if you prep it right. You can take some adhesive and wax remover/cleaner to clean it. Then take a light duty scuff pad to knock down the shine. Re-apply the cleaner again and put down a light coat of primer so that the paint has a good base to lay down on. Take a look at this tech article I did on painting the front grille and rear surround:

Not really. The picture kind of gives is a funky look and you are right it does look like an Intrique in the picture. Believe me though, it doesn't look like that in person. I guess my picture taking skills need work. :Bang

If you choose to remove the emblem, I'd be interested in acquiring it. THANKS!:)
