I went to the optima battery site and they do not list a battery that will fit the LS. What is the model number that will fit our car. I have alot of electronics so I guess I should go with the yellow top. Unless I am misunderstanding the different types of batteries they offer.

Thanks

I am a long time user of Optima Batteries and I know that they are vent less, but I am not sure I would want to experiment with it in the LS as it resides inside the passenger airspace. I would get assurances from Optima that they would under no circumstances, ever vent into the car.

The yellow top is a deep cycle and the red is just a starting battery. Sorry I dont know what part # you need but I can tell you, I've had my yellow top in the trunk about a year now no issues what so ever. The only thing I had to do is stick a little pice of a 2x4 next to keep it from slideing around since I pulled the batt. from my 96 t-bird and its a little smaller then the batt tray.

I know there are a few guys who are running the yellow top batteries here. Anyone have the model number. If not can someone do me a favor and measure the battery tray. I have not had my car in over a week and it is going to be gone till the 12th of May.

Thanks

The tray in my 02 is 11x7. My yellow top is about 3 years old so I dont know how much it will help but its Part# 9151189 Model # YEL34/78.

Because they do not ever give off any types of gasses. They were designed to be used in spaces where other batteries are not to be used. They have absolutely no provisions to be vented. They can be used in any position, including upside down. if they were to leak gasses or fluids this would not be the case. If you are going to put an Optima in your car, go for the Yellow Top. It is by far a much better battery for cars with lots of electronic gadgets. I have already left my stereo and lights on for more than 7 hours and still been able to start the car.

i have a yellow top.. i would get u the model number but Its too hard to take everything else to get it... i went to a shop and it's the ONLY yellow top they have.. i would say its about 12 inches by 6inches and the height shouldnt matter.. the battery will be a little smaller than the stock.. but it wont make a difference.

I wrote Optima on using their battery in the truck. Here is their reply

YOU MAY BE ABLE TO APPLY VENTING TUBES TO THE TOP PORTION OF THE BATTERY.(i.e. small round charcoal pieces on top )

Are you sure about this? Mine have always had two small charcoal filtered vents at the top. I know they are maintenance free and had charcoal filters, but was not aware they gave off no gases at all.

"Vehicles modified for better engine performance demand more from a battery. OPTIMA batteries withstand the high underhood temperatures associated with these Performance vehicles. The sealed cells make the battery spill-proof, even if you install it on its side! This prevents external gassing and leaking which can damage engine components and limit battery performance."
