I just ordered these, I had a dilemma, I have two new Michellin HX MXM4's on the back, but the front two were shot. I have a hard time spending $200 a tire on the Michellins especially since I think they are going to be a terrible snow tire. So, I ordered these yesterday and I need to get rid of two Michellins with 90% tread on them. If anyone wants them, make an offer, if nobody here wants them, they are going on ebay.

Here are the tires I ordered.

I was thinking about going with the same tire, I come from the subaru world where that is a pretty popular tire to go with. Falken makes a pretty good affordable tire. I dont think they will be as quiet as the michilens, but the cost justifies the means :)

Mine was as much winter traction as much as it was cost. I just couldn't justify spending $500 on two Michellins and put my wife and little boy in a car that isn't safe in the snow. Instead, I ordered them for $470 and get 4 new tires that should improve the winter handling. I know Michellins are great tires, but man I can get these 4 new and replace them in two years or so and still not be up to the cost of 4 Michellins. I'll let you know what we think of these.

Unless the tire says "M+S", I doubt it would be much better than the Michelins.

On a side note, a racing friend of mine told me that Z rated tires are dangerous in freezing tempuratures. He said the rubber gets hard and slippery. Well, I had a set of Yokohama AVS es100s on with plenty of tread left. Went into the mountains (Running Springs, CA) to my sister-in law's house. While there, it started snowing. My friend was quite right! I thought I was ice skating when driving on the fresh snow! Fortunately we were only a hundred feet or so into the freezing level, so were out of the snow in a hurry. Once the temp got above ~35º, the tire acted normally. I'll not drive my Z+ rated tires into possible freezing temps anytime soon!!
