I changed coils, plugs, vcg's recently. 2003V6, 120K miles. Used Denso coils, autolite double platinum plugs, Victor Reinz gaskets. Had to replace the temp sensor as well (BWD), as it twisted off when reinstalling. It was fatigued during removal.

After reassembly, still had an intermitent miss, I have not pulled the intake to check the passenger side, driver side looks fine.
Threw a PO775 code, solenoid B circuit fault I think the scanner said.

I did a quick search here and found some P0775 posts, but none that linked it to the almighty LS coils. Anyway, I'm guessing this is another phantom code since I still have the intermittent miss. Just looking for a sanity check.

That's because it's a transmission related code.....

P0775 Ford - Pressure Control Solenoid 'B' Malfunction

Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Faulty line pressure solenoid 'B' valve
- Line pressure solenoid 'B' valve harness is open or shorted
- Line pressure solenoid 'B' valve circuit poor electrical connection
Help with Possible causes What does this mean?
When is the code detected?
The P0775 is detected when TCM detects an improper voltage drop when it tries to operate the solenoid valve.
Possible symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Transmission shift shock
P0775 Ford Description
The line pressure solenoid valve regulates the oil pump discharge pressure to suit the driving condition in response to a signal sent from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

for whats its worth, LSs very rarely throw a code for a misfire, especially if its not too bad. in my experience, it has to be a pretty bad misfire for it to throw a code.

I'm not sure my original post was clear. Both times I previously have had coil issues, car has thrown throttle body codes. Before becoming smarter via this forum on the evil deeds of LS coils, I replaced a perfectly good throttle body only to find that it made no difference. I have the old one as a spare in case I ever need it I suppose.

What I was trying to determine is if others have received the solenoid code, when the real issue was a flaky coil, or if I potentially have another problem. A search did not turn up anything. I'm leaning towards the first, and either way I need to determine what is causing the miss considering I just replaced everything.

I haven't heard of a solenoid code being triggered by EFI from the ignition, but it's not impossible.

"either way I need to determine what is causing the miss"
"Used Denso coils"

While I understand that they are not MOTORCRAFT, it's not like Denso is a crap brand.
Its just wire, plastic and epoxy, how hard can that be with today's manufacturing technology.

It's also not like those coils fit a ton of cars and have a wide spec. As near as I can tell they only fit the LS and Jag S-type, but maybe there is some secret that only FOMOCO knows.

I'll order a set of Visteons.

I do not disagree. Yet, it seems that no one else can make an alternator that works on the gen I.

Well, that's good to know as well, I guess, but that seems even more absurd since an alternator should be a no brainer.

Unless the PCM controls the alternator..... The LS (and I suspect most modern cars) is electronically sensitive to power. I added an auxiliary light to the trunk of my old 2000 and had to use a relay to make it work.
