Good evening one and all. I have a 2004 LS V8. I had the transmission rebuilt recently and now after about 350 miles I'm getting a P708 code. I have heard of a few things that it could be but I have had success with answers I have gotten from this site. If anyone has an idea of what it could be I'd like to hear from you. Thanks all and God Bless

You didn't look very hard.

Thank you for the response and I did Google it before I asked LVC there advise. I was trusting LVC members instead of Google since LVC members have more knowledge and tips from hands on experience with problems. Anyway , thanks for your responses and remember today is Veterans Day and all of us would not have the Freedom we all have if it wasn't for someone else. Have a good day and God Bless

For sure, you can pretty much find multiple answers to any question on Google cause lots of dumb people that don't really know try to answer them. I read about 5 and usually you can figure out who knows and and who doesn't, ha

God Bless

You too.

If the shop that did the rebuild didn't replace the TRS... or didn't properly adjust it... this is very likely the reason for your code.

While in tight quarters... the TRS is easy to adjust.

After putting the car on jack stands... put the trans in neutral and disconnect the shifter cable at the trans.

Look for a couple "line up marks" on the TRS. If not lined up... loosen the 2 bolts on the TRS and line up the marks... and re-tighten the bolts.

Now double check the cable alignment with the shifter arm on the trans. (still in neutral)

If the end of the cable doesn't line up with the ball on the shifter arm... follow the cable back part way to the shifter.

You will see a white "saw toothed" piece. That is where you adjust the cable. I don't exactly remember how it adjusts... but it should be fairly obvious.

Just move the adjuster...
until the trans end of the cable lines up with the ball on the trans shifter arm.

If both of the above do not fix the issue... then the TRS is most likely bad. A new TRS is around $60 from the dealer... or about $35 from a Ford parts place online (do NOT buy an aftermarket TRS).

If you don't want to do this job yourself... take it back to the trans shop and tell them what is going on... and demand they make it right. (adjusting the TRD and cable).

At the most... the shop may have to replace the TRS on your dime...but I suspect the cable isn't adjusted properly.
