Ok so I'm about to paint the Lincoln I want it red like the last one I had I'm having trouble finding the color code I was thinking I could with the VIN but that's a dead end. I did some looking online and found a list of all the colors of the Lincoln LS by year it only had a red fire for 2006 but I dot think that's the right red for the one I had the 2005 say amber red watch to me looks more like the one I had So the question I think I have is could my 2006 have a 2005 red and any help with the color code would be nice

The Color Code is listed on the drivers door jamb VIN sticker.

I think you're looking for Autumn Red (maroon).. G2 is the code

There is also a Dark Cherry Metallic for the 2006. It is the color mine is.

I'm not sure but the only red that comes up for the 2006 is a redfire metallic and I don't think that's right

That color looks like the bondo spot glaze stuff before it hardens lol. Thats definitely a lot different than that "Vivid Red" above though. Will probably look better once all the covering is pulled off and theres some contrast.

Id be pissed about that license plate holder too.

That's too orange for Vivid Red.

That's more of a blood red and honestly that shop is lazy ... seems to me the plate holder is simply masked up like the rest of the work they did. Must be an 1 day out the door special, just by looking at the reflection on the hood from the light above, that's going to need a crap load of wet sanding to get that orange peel out, compound polishing to mirror perfection.

Good professional shops take the time, (plus charge you for it) to remove parts as much as possible.

No offence ... but MAACO ???

Hey men I'm not trying to pay a milli for this paint job but I'm not paying a dime if it's not what I want the thing had over spray all over it when I bought it so at this point anything smooth is better than before I will post pics when it done over

Ive seen very good work come out of Maaco, but the owner usually did all of the prep, and then final waxes/polish or whatever you do with new paint jobs. I have also seen horrendous crap come out of Maaco that looked worse than before it went in.

I also wouldn't pay unless it was a much cleaner job. Shouldn't have to tell them to take the damn license plate cover off, or that there shouldn't be overspray everywhere.

wow, cant believe that anybody thinks its ok to paint a bumper and just leaving the plate holder on... just wow.

also, if they were not going to bother to take off the head/taillights, I would have spent the 25-20 mins to pull all of them off myself before it got sprayed.

There are shops that work on the lowest price, quick turnaround method. Basically mask everything, paint everything, out the door by the next day.

I highly doubt, just from first impression from that photo, that anything inner was done. pillar post, door jams, trunk, under hood.

antonio is, as he already mentioned just looking for a fresh coat of color on it for now, not going to any shows with it.

There is at least another days worth of wet block sanding on that, then another half day of compound buffing.
