this guy said he can paint my wheels for 50 bucks a wheel. he has his own shop and gets all the materials cheap which is how he is able to give me that price. my questions, are there things i should ask him? anything i should be aware of that he shouldn't do or use on my wheels? usually when someone tells me a price that is too good to be true it's because it's not worth it. any input? i just want to paint them all black, currently chrome. how much do people usually pay to get their wheels painted?

It is cheap to do; it just takes time. You can refinish all four wheels with $50, and probably have change if you are just going with black.

I would probably have him do one first and see how it comes out. Ask him how he plans to deal with the chrome removal, what type of primer will be used, any wet sanding, and how much clear coat is going on there.

thanks. will ask all these questions before i let him mess with my wheels. see the problem i think is these damn fake buttons on the wheels. i'm trying to upload a pic from my flickr account but not sure how to do it. can someone help? i have the option to copy the link or the html. i've tried using both here and it was a no go. i tried the img insert as well, no go with the html. any help is appreciated.

i also have the photo bucket account but seeing the quality difference in another thread i switched up so, i've only had it a few minutes thus far. i'll keep trying to mess with it.

Did you use the insert like this?

You have to insert it in the second link flickr gives you.

I would worry about paint chipping. Powdercoating would be better, but it would cost a little more.

+1

I painted my second set for winter myself and they have a couple chips in them after one season

Not really. I checked out a few places with my friend cause he wanted to powder coat his wheels black too. There was one crazy expensive guy but 3 around me that would do them for around 50 bucks.Crazy how they chage so much for calipers but so cheap for wheels

It's about $75 a piece around here. The only reason I think his would be more is because they need to remove the chrome plating first.

sry, didn't mean to post a thread and ditch. i will try to find a place that does powdercoating. also, i did use the img in brackets, even tried the one supplied through lvc and nothing. it's weird because through photobucket it would let me copy/paste the html code and insert it in brackets. let me try again.

if you try to quote my last post it will show you that i posted the img plus link and it doesn't show anything. can someone help? i checked the image settings and it's not set to private. thx

I dont think that would be a problem. I think it's the same steps, they pressure blast the wheels with some rough stuff and then dip them in acid to take everything off. One guy wanted to charge 150 per wheel, crazy
