would anyone recommend pepboys to install an alternator?...they are charging me 60 bucks for labor....any thoughts

You can actually do it urself and hellzzzzzzzzzzz no not PEPGIRLS lol.. 60bucks is wayyyyyy to much..should be a free install if you bought it from them.

Dealership tried to bend me over for a total of 540 parts and labor...pepboys 236 parts and labor....I am not too experienced with cars so i figure if i was going to have something installed I'd put the burden on someone else...so is pepboys bad on installation with lincoln parts?

I have used Pep Boys before and for some things they'll be just fine, and an alternator would be one of them. Easy install, dont need to know Lincolns. I have talked to the manager at the one by me alot and he gives the impression that since they are a big national chain, so they dont really need to nickel and dime you and you also have a decent guarantee with them regarding their work. I have actually had them quote a LOWER price than other shops. I wouldnt have them replacing my tranny, but $60 for the alternator, go for it.

the pepboys over here in nyc always mess thingd up.
alot of the techs are fresh from school.

My dad is retired but works part time for a local PepBoys. I wouldn't have any problem taking my car the PepBoys.

$60 is a good price to avoid the headache. Keep in mind "they break it, they fix it". If you break it, you fix it. Good peace of mind there.

I have had good and bad experiences with PEPBOYS good was when i lived in NJ and bad has been since being here in TX. i guess its who you know there sometimes and exactly who is working on your car and there skill level. But i have found for myself a mechanic here in Austin to do all my work for damn near nothing on my Mark VII all he says he bring him my car and the parts and he just charges me for labor sometimes less than 50bucks. I still think thats kind of high for a alternator to put in @ 60bucks all there using is a tension bar and bolts and 1 plug and play and back on..But hey thats just me. Goodluck with it

I'd do it if your pressed for cash, but just make sure you get an experienced mechanic working on your car.

Alternator R & R isn't rocket science. Just about anyone should be able to safely tackle that. I would be more concerned about the quality of the alternator than the quality of their work.

depending on the engine, the hardest part of the job is snaking the alternator between the control arm and crossmember.

pepboys do a good job... They've done some work for me on my wife's old car (escort).. not to expensive and did good work.. go for it bro.. you can't listen to everyone all the time.
