i have heard people using accel coil packs for a mustang or something and holding them in with longer bolts and fender washers, i have also heard about biger fuel injectors. i'm asking because i'm aout to drop an 02 3.9 in my '00 lsv8. i want to do some mods before i drop in the engine

The things you just mentioned can all be done while the engine is in the car. However, if you want to do a complete engine build now is the time to do it.

TDUB! I don't know how much I want to build my engine before I put it in my car but would you recommend any kind of rebuild or checking/replacing any bearings gaskets while it's out? Or would building it up a little be the best option. What would you say the cost would be to build it up? I don't know how extreme but let me know what you think.

different coil packs were in the search for better reliability not performance.

larger fuel injectors only make sense if you are adding more air - N2O, turbo, supercharger, ....etc. BTW- the Gen1 uses 'air assisted' fuel injectors - which there are no larger versions I could find - meaning if you later need larger fuel injectors you will need to modify the intake manifold to remove and seal the air assist rail.

both are easily added after the engine is in.

I think he poses a good question though. What if anything would you do while the engine is out of the car? Either for easy performance upgrades or just to make life easier down the road? I hope to never be in that situation, but I'd like to hear the answer.
