Hey guys, I’m new here. I have a 2000 Lincoln ls v8 that has some overheating issues, and from the bit of surfing I’ve done here, looks like all the plastic coolant parts get hairline cracks and eventually need to be replaced. I had started to take the upper end of the engine apart to replace the head gasket, because I was sure that was what the problem was. Pressure in the coolant lines, dripping on drivers side just in front of the firewall, just blowing steam when I tried to bleed it. Sounded like some other people had the same problems, and it was that cheap plastic all through the system that gave up the ghost eventually. Just curious if anyone else has replaced this stuff, and what all I should replace. I’m the third owner of this thing, and it’s given me quite a bit of grief so far, but when it was running good I liked it so much that I just can’t ditch it!

We have a good (complete) list for the gen 2, but not so much for your 1st gen.

Thermostat housing and fill cap. There is a Uro metal one that works well, it is for the 1st gen Jaguar s-type 4.0.
cross over tube assembly
Top radiator hose
Bottom radiator hose
Degas bottle (Do not use Dorman. Use Motorcraft or Jaguar, but the Jaguar one has to be modified.)
Check the top upper front of the passenger side radiator tank. It may be cracked where opposite of where the upper radiator hose connects.

On a serious note ...yes plastic will wear from inside out eventually turning a orange/ brownish color ....like Joe said go with aluminum Uro T-Stat housing Jaguar S-Type....

Ok, I ordered an aluminum thermostat housing. That motorcraft degas bottle hurts tho! $$$ AmsterDutch, your car looks awesome by the way!

It's a fun car... Rebuilding my transmission as of now but I put so much money into it I can't give it up now and this 3.9 is a little beast

Cool! Has anybody heard of Spectra Premium? They have a degas bottle that is less expensive then a motorcraft, but more than a dorman. Are they any good?

I have the Spectra Direct fit ( Fuel Pump Assembly) in my LS its been running strong ...this company is based out of Canada and seems to be pretty legit ...they post videos of factory tests performance ....the price sold me on the module...$89.00 compared to $378.00 MotorCraft not sure about the degas bottle I know that they're rarely in stock at RockAuto I've been on a waiting list for awhile and whenever they notify me its in....I look and it's gone again...I know the Jag would be the best bet like was already said ...the MotorCraft is much much thicker than any aftermarket I heard by a few ppl but those ppl were comparing to the Dorman not the Spectra...one person said that Dorman may be made in a different country now so it's better quality but I wouldn't trust it ...to many senior members here say it's garbage
