I've got a new cd player that I want to install in my 93 mark viii but I'm concerned about how to get the old one out without messing up the dash... any suggestions? need help asap! thanks in advance! (i don't have the original cd player, it's one that the previous owner installed.. in case that makes a difference) thanks again!

pop open the controls for the command center over the radio - you can reach in there and push your radio out. THat's what I had to do to remove the non stock radio someone had installed in my car.

Most auto stores that have a radio section have a stock ford radio remover tool .... it's 2 u shaped things that you stick in the holes on each side of the stock head-unit.

actually i'm a girl :) thanks for the help guys! i figured i'd have to take that out but i wasn't sure! thanks again!

you could also go to an installer and borrow the hooks for whatever brand the old one is

When I installed my radio I used a metal coat hanger, and made two of the "c" shaped hooks as makeshift radio removal tools. Worked good, costs whatever a metal hanger costs, not to mention it was right in my closet.

if its an aftermarket stereo, usually you can get by with a couple of butter knives inserted on each side of the radio. They normally have little clips that need to be pressed down to slide the unit out
