Ok, im happy to say half of my coils look great, not one drop of oil in them, but, my 02 v-6 needs a plug job, can anyone help me on this? since it seems half of the plugs are under the mainfold, those are the ones I need help with, and what would be the difference going from stock motorcraft plugs to bosch platinum 4? better spark? better...? I would appreciate any help!!! Thanks.

not sure what everyone else thinks but i dont like the bosh platinum 4. I have tried them in my other car/trucks and have not liked them seem to make it run funny. just my opinion. maybe with the ls it would work better. you should ask QuickLS it he knows about this he has always been a big help to me

Well technically new plugs are always best regardless of the manuf. Plugs do not get you any new horsepower but can restore what was lost due to wasting over time. I have a v6 and read more than I care to know about plugs and couldnot find a definative answer. I ended up buying the Denso Plugs and have been quite pleased with them. I have put well over 12k miles on my car since the install and have not had any problems.

I chose the Denso on the count of becasue; I wanted to test them for the LS V6 and so far so good. I really chose them becasue i did not want to redo the tune up again anytime soon becasue ti is a pain in the arse.

If and when you choose to do the job I would recommend that you at least consider replacing the coils on the passenger side due to the amount of disassembly involved; i did becasue I hate rework.

Also, not sure about the 02's but teh 00's have a big problem with the pcv tube below the lower intake. It thermally degenerates to the point of collapse then start throwing P0171/2 codes for lean bank 1/2 which can ultimately lead to the early demise of the cats. So you might want to dig a little deeper and replace that while inside the engine.

I actually had my old dealer...the one I trust...tell me NOT to use the Bosch platinum plugs. They have had some issues in the past and there is actually supposed to be some literature somewhere addressing that.

The standard cheap motorcraft from autozone should do you just fine. You might have to change the more frequently then again maybe not so long as you do not have VC gasket issues or start burning oil. Plugs really are not that much of a performance item unless yu get into extremely modified engines that get very hot.
