Whelp I got the b-pillar carbon fiber inserts today, yea well that did not work out. Was happy they got here and I got to put the first piece on the passenger front door and go figure, the F*(%($# thing is not on right, of course it being 3m and all there is nothing I could do to fix it besides just rip it off and ruin the piece, well, it took off a hunk of the tap so there goes that "modification" and $99 bucks, not like I need that money anyway.

Going to check w/ my dad to see if I can somehow fix it but whatever, I don't even think I want to try it again and risk it f*%^($@ again.

Sorry for the bitching, but that made my day. Right now I feel like ripping someone's head off!

Did you fit them up properly and make sure they were alinged before you undid the 3M tape and just started sticking them on?

The object is they dont come back off, so making sure they're applied right is crucial.

No, why would I fit them first, I just opened the box and prayed lol. Sorry, just joking.

I applied many times to make sure that is how it was suppose to go, just when I went to apply them and blah blah somehow it went to one side and that was it alittle over half was on, tried to straighten but the half that was on right would offer no give.

I know they are suppose to stay, but I wish there was a way to make it not stick for a few seconds so you could move them alittle, all this stuff we have these days and nothing that you can spray on first to make it not stick for a second or two.

I think you can use something also maybe like witch hazel something no soap that will evap. quick..... Just get some more 3m tape and wait for a nice calm relaxing day or get someone else to do it.....If you wanna sell them I would buy them from you ...... just a thought

I hate to hear that Chris. I did the same thing with mine and I had the first prototype set too! However, I carefully pulled it off and was able to save the tape. It sounds like you had yours all the way on. That 3M tape is designed to stay on and not come off. Trial fitment first and then clean, peel and stick.

Yea, I did all the steps and did what I guess professionals would do, but it was just one of things where it just happens. Also forgot, like I said to Ken I don't hold anything against him or the product, just one of them things that happens w/ things like these.

I thought about going to an auto store and seeing in I could get some 3m and maybe just put a piece like what is missing back but than I figured the rest of the tape that goes onto the CF piece itself is damage and would cause a problem in the future.

Trial and error.

I had a similiar thing happen when i was tinting my house sliding door. It has really bad sun exposure and during the summer is brutal. So i bought a high quality residential film, well about half way down with a 6ft x 2 ft section it rolled over on itself and stuck. I had to trash the entire piece and i was furious, my wife went and hid in the bedroom. So i know how you felt right at that exact moment it got f*cked up. :Beer

go to a hardware store and get the good stuff like 5lb hold the 1 or 3lb just doesnt last....I use the 8lb on everything They use it to hold bumper lip kits on so its good stuff......

There is outdoor specific tape that wont succomb to the environment like regular 3M sticky tape. 5 or 8lb should do just fine. Also a hairdryer would have helped remove the f*cked up tape easier.

is that stuff thick? Cause the tape on the piece is pretty thick. I'm waiting to hear back from Ken though, he said something about maybe a spare piece. I'd even pay if it wasn't too expensive for another piece.

Its a foam type of tape. It does have some thickness to it but could also be doubled up to make it thicker. Thats brings me to a question with those things. Do they look like something that is stuck on or does it blend in good. With it being thick do the edges show ?

The tape is actually not thick, it was the piece itself, sorry. It is going to stick out some but I think it well look good, go to LSkoncepts.com and its under exterior and there is some pics.

I have seen those pics but that doesnt compare to you seeing it in person. I dont want something that looks obviously stuck on.

Yea, I can understand that. From the test fitting it did not look like it was going to stick out too much(defiantly be better looking than the worn watered sun damage stock pillar). I would go ahead and put the others on but I'm the type that wants it complete. My dad said he could probably get some tap from work but I'm still waiting to see if Ken can help or not because it'd be a &(*&)( to get the tap cut to fit the piece.
