I just added some Pioneer 3way 6x8 speakers in my front doors and had one question...........how do i test polarity for the new speakers in relation to the factory wiring? I did it based on listening to what I thought sounded better........but it had been a long day so maybe i was hearing things. I think it sounds good now, but who knows.........there are smarter people out there.

Other question was in regards to my tail lights. I would like to get them smoked out so that they are dark grayish.........same goes for my side marker lenses. Any ideas for this? I haven't seen any tail lights for the LS, nor have i seen any aftermarket light assemblies. I don't want it to look like it rolled out of Japan, but I would like to have it look sleak.

About the only way to get smoked lenses is to do it yourself. Special Vehicle Concepts did this to their show vehicle. Here's a pic or two:

Also, I've been trying to get the tail lights apart without destroying the lens. If I can get the lens separated from the housing I will offer the clear and smoked lenses for the LS. However, I haven't had much luck yet.

Take your old speaker and connect a battery to it, AA, C, D, or even a 12V from a drill, but no 9V. If the speaker cone pops in, reverse the polariy of the battery on the speaker. If the speaker cone pops out, then the positive of the battery indicates the positive of the speaker. Then mark the positive terminal on the speaker and hook it up to the factory speaker harness. This will indicate the positive and negative.

thanks for the info. I checked the wires today and lucked out when I wired the new speakers in.......everything was perfect. I have another question.........anyone know what product works for tinting tail lights and side marker lenses? I heard there was a kit or a spray or something. Thanks a lot.

Yea the light comes out, except that instead of yellow it turned red.. I dont know why but it did..

is it spray on? Frankly, i'd prefer the light be red in color. All my interior lights are red as well as the lights over my tag. Looks nice at night and it doesn't kill your eyes when you turn on the interior lamps while driving.

yea its a spray on, but you have to be careful how you apply it.

I smoked them and they turned out nicely but it didn't look good on my car so i got new ones.
To prep it i got some wetdry sandpaper and made it rough.
Gotta spray really evenly and slowly.
Then i coated it with some clearcoat.

Any pictures of them sprayed? My car is darker than yours.......so i was thinking it would look pretty good. I'm pretty much going to make mine monochrome. Is that a good idea.........bad idea.........suggestions?

My plans are to buy some used headlights off ebay so i dont ruin the nice ones i have and remove the orange lens (just in case). Then, im going to do something with my side-marker lenses so they aren't orange. From there, i was thinking of getting rid of my chrome lip on the grill and rear end and painting them body color. After that, plans are to get a grill (mclaren style) and lower faschia treatment that matches. Only problem is, i have a 2000 sport and haven't seen any good mods to spruce up in between the foglights. Any suggestions? When everything is all said and done, i should have an LS that is different (without spending a lot of money).
