Howdy,

Can someone walk me through the locations of the various different plugs on the antenna path to the radio? Tired of not being able to pull in stuff I could get on my truck with it's antenna completely removed!

Thanks,

The antenna is is embedded in the rear window glass, common weak point is the connector on the glass, driver side, interior C pillar cover, check it.

Actually....... The plug is on the driver's side, near the high mount brake light (on '03-'06), same location on '00-'02 just no brake light. Be careful when you remove it. I snapped the plug off of the window and had a bugger of a time reattaching it. The wire goes to what looks like some sort of resistor that can cause problems (you'll see it under the headliner, bolted to the roof). A simple test to see if this part is the culprit is to give the headliner a little tap a foot or so forward of the antenna connection. If reception returns you have found your problem. Mine does this when I use the moonroof a lot. One of these days I may replace that part.....

Also if you have tint on the rear window, some brands of tint will interfere with radio signal.

Been there........Done that!! That's why I used ceramic tint and not metallic in my LS!

I have metallic tint that doesn't interfere with it. I even get signal inside parking garages.

My LS's signal has sucked regardless of tint being on or not.

Pandora is the future. (internet radio in general)

Another option is to add a new antenna.

I put one of these in the passenger A Pillar (Tune Trapper w/end cable), got an extension, and a splitter (using both antennas):

Chances are its the isolator in the roof

If you follow the wire off the window antenna, its heads under the liner. About 2 inches from there is an isolator that leads to the radio. The isolator is a small unit that seems to short out on the roof of the car. To fix mine I took a tissue that was folded several times and pressed it between the isolator and the roof. This fixed my AM reception about 200%. You can test this by sitting in the back seat and start pressing on the liner and with the radio tuned to a good station you will hear it improve dramatically. Just start pushing on the liner where that isolator is located.
