I have a 97 Mark with a random popping noise in the intake only at idle. Replaced VC gaskets, plugs & coils (needed to be done) noise didn't change. Compression test good. Still have a slight miss #4 ( not coil or plug related). Unplugged injectors one at a time (ones I could reach) with no change until #8. When I unplug #8 inj popping noise tripled in frequency then returned to random when plugged back in. Repeated this 3 more times same thing. #8 cyl leak down test GOOD
