Hello there, I recently saw an ad for a 1993 Lincoln Continental for a good price($500CAD) and was wondering if it would be considered a good purchase.

From what the owner tells me he has replaced the air ride suspension with normal coils but other than that it is loaded(pwr everything leather buckets, console shift, sunroof etc) I was wondering what are some other issues with this series of car? I have read about the headgasket issue and will be sure to look at that area when I go to look at the car. Is there any other big issues that I should look out for?

The car has a couple problems being it needs a brake line(broken rear flex line) and a new battery(old and tired) as well as having a small rust hole on the driver side rear fenderwell(low rust for this area) I am not sure of the mileage but he says there is probably about 200k on it.

My only real issues with this car are the fact that it is FWD(I am an avid supporter of RWD) and the relatively low output v6 but if I get a high powered car its only going to lead to more expense due to speeding tickets

This will be my second vehicle as my first was a 1989 Jeep Cherokee LTD with too many problems to make it worth fixing(bad body, electrical system)
although I may end up keeping the jeep for an off-road only vehicle.
If I get this car what would you recommend for maintenance? I plan on changing out all the fluids as well as seafoaming the engine and doing the brake pads. I will also be installing an aftermarket head unit and speakers as well as 2 10" subwoofers and likely a 500W amplifier.

Thank you in advance to any replies I receive.

got a 91, and a 90 for parts...

aside from the a/s problems (appearently solved on the one your looking at), and the head gaskets, they are pretty durable. the transmissions are kinda weak, but if maintained properly, should be good.

I do vaguely remember a TSB/recall for front subframe mounting bolts or something like that in the 'rust belt' cars (snow during winter). see if has been taken car of.. it only effected cars in the rustbelt area.
